The paving at the gym will be done next week OVER TWO DAYS. Not sure yet which days. But come expecting a REDUCED parking lot ... (park across the street) but gym and tanning will remain open and everything will be normal. If you are able to cross the street and your mobility is good PLEASE park there. Physio does have some clients who need to park close to the building so anyone who can manage the walk is encouraged ESP during the paving times ... to not park in our parking lot. As many of you have most likely heard we had a potential COVID positive gym member in the gym in mid December. Over 2 weeks ago now. We were contacted by Public Health late afternoon on Dec 27th and asked to provide a list of members (and phone numbers) who were in the gym during a specific set of hours and days and we did provide that list within 3 hours. Public health began calling people on the 28th and I know many people did go get tested and to date I have heard of man...y dozens of negative tests results. I am relieved to hear this. This is why we wear masks in the gym. This is why we ask people to clean equipment and distance from each other. There is very little COVID in this province but it does exist... the vast majority imported from other non-Atlantic provinces where it is more rampant. So let’s just keep doing what we are doing. Being kind and thoughtful; allowing people space and minding the guidelines and staying as safe as we can. Soon we will begin getting the vaccine and soon enough the plexiglass will come down and we can again touch and hug each other as we have done in the past. Here’s to that thought and a better 2021. With orange level upon us for likely the bulk of January, we will discontinue the spin classes effective immediately. All other classes will continue. As soon as we return to yellow we will resurrect our spin classes and by then our new spin bikes will be here The gym and tanning salon will remain open. We ask people to come ready to workout - changerooms are not closed but we are asking for people’s cooperation in limiting numbers in common areas. Masking policy will cont...inue as before and as an additional safeguard we are installing barriers between the treadmills. Hope to see you at the gym!! In anticipation of an announcement back to orange ... we are working to install barriers between treadmills so we don’t have to put any additional treadmills out of service during orange phase. Just an added layer of security.

A couple of bikes have just come available for Josee class at 7 tonight. And rest assured the possible (not even confirmed) COVID exposure at the gym was dec 12-14... and 100 members went to get tested and all tested negative 6 days ago. These new cases announced last couple of days have everything to do with Holiday gatherings and people who went to work symptomatic. They have NOTHING to do with the gym ... ... Remember people. Anyone can post anything on social media. It doesn’t make it accurate or truthful or even remotely relevant. If ever you have concerns call me at the gym and get it from the horses mouth. Not the gossip mill.

Another weekend day... another visit from Covid inspectors. Three in 18 hours ... and to think I was initially excited to be allowed to remain open during orange phase. Not too much new from this one .. just be aware that inspectors are EVERYWHERE and are engaging not just with businesses but consumers. Masks are mandatory even in parking lots so govern yourselves accordingly. Masks do not replace physical distancing. They are in addition to it. So please just don’t come w...ithin 6 feet of anyone not in your bubble in the gym. Have a note from doctor about inability to wear a mask? That’s fine but you need a replacement protection ... like a face shield or something similar. No face covering and no entry into a business. Full stop. I don’t make the rules and I won’t comment on how much I am enjoying them. But in order to stay open this is it. Expect the same from your friendly neighborhood restaurant etc .. all of whom are being visited by inspectors. Let’s pray for yellow and for some of this to subside.

So tonight we are offering a NEW CLASS... it is spin and tone with Shelly and it’s 5:30 pm until 6:30. Part spin and part muscle work. Come try it out. Tomorrow we are happy to offer a NEW spin with Rachel Boudreau from 7-8 pm. Until our new bikes come in the spin classes are maxed at 13 bikes. This is due to the Quebec shutdown for covid. We are hoping our bikes will be here mid January so hoping only this week and next will be impacted. ... Once the bikes come we will cap the classes at 15-18 bikes or so... This compliance letter was written before I challenged the inspector on the mask everywhere all the time requirement. After I challenged him and asked him to verify with his superior, he came back and verbally told me I WAS CORRECT, that during the exercise masks are not required. BUT THEY ARE REQUIRED WHILE WALKING BETWEEN MACHINES & AROUND THE GYM FLOOR. I realize the compliance letter seems contradictory, but if you have ever been audited by ...compliance officers, you will understand that I didn’t want to get into any further conflict with them and just took the letter w/out asking for it to be amended. I am confident based on my 1 hr+ interaction with the inspectors that not wearing masks while exercising is OK. But they are required at ALL OTHER TIMES. Any questions you can ask me directly. While on the gym floor masks are not required but can be worn if you want. ... Thanks for your compliance. We want to stay on the happy side of Public health.

But not required while exercising. We have masks for sale at the gym as well as lanyards ($2) which are helpful to keep the mask around your neck if you want to take it on/off while moving about the gym. Saturday classes Spin 8:30-9:30 Expect a mix of climbing hills(resistance), sprinting, standing and flat rides. By changing up the pace and intensity, you are in control of how great a workout you get! On average burn 400-600 calories... Muscle tone 9:45-10:45 Toning class is a fun hour of weighted exercises to strengthen and tone all areas of your body and increase bone density and heart health !

Effective immediately masks must be worn in the gym at all times EXCEPT while exercising. So on way in and out .. in between machines and when moving around the gym floor. Once you get to your machine or bench and are ready to do your exercise the mask may be removed. ... We have had to block off another bunch of treadmills ... for orange level they need to be 9 feet apart. Sorry guys. Hopefully we won’t be in orange long. Please comply with the mask regulations as without compliance we will face fines or closure. We have signage around the gym but if you have questions ask staff ... if you see people not adhering please let us know so we can correct it. We have been advised by public safety that People who cannot tolerate face masks (doctors note) are advised to wear face shields. No mask or no face shield and no entrance to gym. We do have some lanyards for sale at desk to help you keep your mask around your neck. Stay tuned ... because things can change daily. We will communicate all changes here or ask any staff member if you require clarification on anything.

So... we’ve been busy PAINTING our tanning rooms during this forced closure. Zero new covid cases today which is good. Hoping for same tomorrow. The government wording is a wishy washy on whether we can open Thursday or Friday ... we will read the news release tomorrow from GNB and make a determination based on that. So at this point we remain closed and hope to open either Thursday or Friday this week... stay tuned.

Enchilada time of year!

So ... we are at the gym today ... deep cleaning again and painting tanning rooms ... renting spin bikes... A few members have stopped by ... sorry we are NOT OPEN.. we wish we could be but we cannot. Max health (physio clinic) is open. ... Again ... we will open the moment we can. And if things continue with Moncton as they have over the last couple of days ... my guess is it won’t be too much beyond the two week incubation period that Public health needs to monitor and assess the outbreak. Stay tuned. We miss you.

The Power for All classes starting this Friday and for the foreseeable future will be as follows ... 8-9 am with Heather 9:15-10:15 with Kim 10:30-11:30 with Kim ... Starting on Monday Sept 14th (no classes on Labor Day) the Monday Power for all classes will be as follows 8-9 am with heather 9:15-10:15 with Kim 10:30-11:30 with Heather Classes are limited to 13 participants and we have had to add the extra class so all who want to attend can attend. (Even if it might not be at your exact preferred time slot)
