Today we would like to acknowledge that the land that we are on is the traditional territory of the Wendat, the Anishnaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Métis, and the Mississaugas of the Scugog (New Credit), Hiawatga, and Alderville First Nation. 1178 Bloor Street West is in the Dish With One Spoon Territory. and is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties, which is within the lands protected by the Dish With One Spoon wampum agreement. The Dish With One Spoon is a treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee that bound them to share the territory and protect the land. Subsequent Indigenous Nations and peoples, Europeans and all newcomers, have been invited into this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship and respect.
