I love documenting life as I have lived and experienced it. That’s why I named my podcast Life Seen Through A Sista’s Eye. . . Subscribe to Life Seen Through... A Sista’s Eye Podcast on your favourite podcast platform, set up notifications so you never miss a dope episode, share with friends and strangers and leave a review on iTunes. Get the full unedited interviews/story sessions on Patreon www.patreon.com/sistazai . . If you know it’s time to hear a Black woman’s experience, voice and Afrofuturistic big ideas uncensored, Life Seen Through A Sista’s Eye is for you. I am taking up all of that space, with that big cat energy - follow the podcast on Instagram @eyeofthesista. . . This is a photo welcoming baby Sista Zai Zanda into the family and the family home. As you can see, Baby Zanda was born in Southern Africa with a glistening silver spoon in her mouth. Shout out my grandparents and parents for gifting me with this experience of living it up Black & Bougie. Mind you, that photo was taken before Zimbabwe had even gained political independence. Yes, Black & Bougie living it up in a very racist White settler colony is an experience of its own that deserves to be documented. My dad actually bought my mom the latest model Citroen in bright yellow as her push present (gift to honour her carrying me for nine months). To this day, daffodil yellow remains one of my favourite colours. That little White Datsun in the background? That is my mum’s first car - the car I eventually learned to drive in and it’s still around and much older than I am. This is the life I was born into and raised in and so that is where the herstory lessons begins, naturally, in a Black middle-class suburb called Marimba park aka Wakanda. . . I explore my self-created Afrofuturistic hashtag #BlackBougieAndQuestioningCapitalism as I have fun and challenging conversations with Africans from across the world around one big question - what does it mean to be African in the 21st century? . . How are Africans worldwide actively decolonising our minds, changing our relationships to predatory and extractive capitalism while creating our own empowered identities as we take back full ownership of telling our stories, in our own voices and on our own terms?
