Here we go again. FordNation continues to mislead Ontarians to distract from his government's failures. Now more than ever, Ontarians need a government that shows up, and steps up. #onted #onpoli Read OECTA President, Liz Stuart's full statement here: https://bit.ly/3uXKJCY.
Everyone wants to go back as soon as possible but all education workers need to be vaccinated and the required 2 weeks have passed. Over 1 in 4 schools had cases pre-break. A 13 year old died in the GTA and staff have been in ICU.

The decision of the government to temporarily move schools to online learning in the new year is an overdue measure to protect public safety. Ontarians have once again been left to scramble and pick up the slack for the Ford government’s stubbornness and half-measures. #onted
As we close our last day of 2020 and continue to take care of our students the irony of a Ministry that can say two days before the break to take everything home should not be lost on the Public. In the midst of a pandemic, in the midst of synchro, asyncrho, hybrid, virtual, remote and now called brick and mortar they say be ready to switch or pivot. The Minister of Ed clearly shows all absence of knowledge of what teachers do. What happened to the last three months of 'schoo...ls are safe'? Teachers have always known how important we have always been to the well being and success of Ontario based on education. We weighed that as the 16+ years of nurturing of our students. What we now need the public to acknowledge is teachers are essential to the economy. Without teachers and educators (and child care workers) the economy collapses. Yet like our sister and brother nurses we are given roll backs and cuts in total disregard of not only our work but of our true value to the greater good of society and the eventual pockets of the 1% and corporations.
