Here is a small sample of the woven pieces I will have for sale at the Filberg Festival this weekend. There are many wonderful artisans at this festival along with great food and music, music, music. Gates open at 10am on Friday. Come and have an amazing time
Here is placemat #3. Only 10 left. I am enjoying choosing the patterns and weaving them
This beautiful cream coloured orlec warp will eventually become 13-14 eight shaft twill placemats. Our weaving group The Woolie Weavers decided our winter/spring project would be a placemat exchange. 13 members wanted to take part, thus we all have to weave 13 placemats. What a fun way to research and experiment weaving twill patterns. Stay tuned. I will post them as I weave them.
For those who asked to see what I’ll be taking to the Charles Dickens Craft Faire here is a few pieces
I had a wonderful weekend teaching a Colour workshop for the Yellowknife Guild of Arts and Crafts. Six participants wove samples on six colour gamps and got it all done by end of day yesterday. I so enjoyed working with this enthusiastic and welcoming group of weavers. Thanks to Cheryl for the invitation and for making all the arrangements.
I am afraid my weaving has suffered lately but I am determined to get back at it. Have started a tencel scarf in an undulating twill pattern on my smaller loom and a black rayon shawl on the large one. Here is a sneak peek at the scarf
Just doing the finishing touches on the weaving items I will have for sale at The Woolgatherers booth at the Charles Dickens Craft Fair this coming weekend. It would be great to see all my Island friends there. If you live off island but are in town for some fun and frivolity I’d love to see you too. The fair starts on Friday, Nov 10 at 3:00. On Saturday and Sunday it starts at 10. Here are some pictures of what I have accomplished. Not everything is shown
Getting ready for the upcoming Christmas Craft Sale season. Was reminded when I went to Costco and saw all the decorations were out already. November will be a busy month. Have signed up for the Fanny Bay Faire, the Charles Dickens and Christmas at the Filberg Lodge. Really must get busy and do some weaving. Hopefully some/all of these will sell
A scarf I dyed with indigo dye. It turned out better than I thought it would. Perhaps I will do this type of dying again, only next time I will use tea.
I am loving the look of this 8 harness weave I am using to make a ruana
Now that the. Christmas season is over it's time to get back to working on downsizing my stash and using the threads I've got to make unique woven pieces. This piece is still on the loom. It is an 8 shaft undulating twill woven with mercerized cotton. I'll post a picture of the finished product, so stay tuned
