BLOGGER'S EXPERIENCE GROWING FRONT YARD FRUIT AND VEGGIES GARDEN. Fellow Canadian "Empressofdirt.net" blogs about frugal living and gardening, and posted the story of her gorgeous garden and her "coming out" as a front yard veggie gardener. It's inspiring and has me dreaming of spring-time in the northern hemisphere.

SOME CITIES BAN GROWING A FRONT YARD EDIBLE GARDEN Getting involved in local politics is a matter of protecting the right to food security in some cities, and it's probably one of those bylaws you probably wouldn't be aware of until a complaint was filed. If we are going to water our yards, we might as well be able to eat what grows there, and although many of us don't personally want to be farmers, I imagine in future our towns and cities will utilize yard space for agriculture, and cooperatives will be formed for farming the spaces, distributing the resulting produce, preserving excess for non-productive months, and managing challenges that arise. It could be gorgeous, nutritious, and delicious.
