There is a long historical Black presence within Guelph and the surrounding area, however many archival documents that convey this have been lost. A research project, The Black Past in Guelph, shares the struggles and achievements of the Black community. This project raises awareness of crucial historical events by tracing Black family histories, businesses, homes as well as institutions and through this seeks to disrupt the erasure of the historical Black presence within Gue...lph. Collaborative efforts from #UofG Prof. Jade Ferguson, students, community members, Guelph Black Heritage Society and Community Engaged Scholarship Institute helped this project come to life. Pandemic Impacts on Women and Girls with Disabilities Focus of U of G-Led Project. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, women and girls with disabilities worldwide faced the highest rates of poverty and gender-based violence. Now a University of Guelph professor will lead a $2.5-million, federal funded research project intended to highlight these issues as well as other challenges facing women and girls with disabilities worldwide.... The seven-year project led by U of G political scientist Deborah Stienstra will receive funding under a Partnership Grant by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). https://uoguel.ph/jqp9m
#UofG Awards Funding for COVID-19 Research Projects. The University of Guelph has awarded nearly $700,000 to U of G researchers for 51 projects designed to support the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigate its impacts.
