Finally, some good news!! Mark your calendars for February 2nd 2021 7pm. We will be having a MLRC members meeting and we will have the one and only @alan_ockwell as our guest speaker!! A little about Alan: "He was born into a Canadian rally family the first time his parents met each other was at the Black Bear rally in Ontario, Canada in the 1970s.... Alan won his first navigational rally with his father when he was nine years old and started co-driving in stage rallies at age 18. He quickly rose through the ranks of North American co-drivers and has had a lot of success over the last decade, winning 25 rallies and the Canadian national championship five times with Patrick Richard and Antoine L’Estage. Several major automakers including Subaru, Toyota and Lexus have selected Alan as their official co-driver for their official entries in the Canadian rally series, Targa Newfoundland and high profile eco-rallies in Europe. Alan has also taken on a mentorship role in the sport, developing a co-driver training program and providing coaching & guidance to up-and-coming navigators." You won't want to miss it! It is with regret that we must announce the cancellation of the 2021 Polar Bear Rally. Considering the present state of things regarding Covid19, we believe it would be impossible for us to hold an event that would live up to expectations and as we are unsure if the provincial lockdown will be extended or not, it would be irresponsible to encourage travel. 2020 OPRC Announcement: Unfortunately, the 2020 Ontario Performance Rally Championship will not be awarded following the cancellation of the Lincoln Electric Ra...lly of the Tall Pines and earlier rallies. Our clubs made a huge effort to host events, but at this time it's incredibly difficult to organize a rally that's safe, compliant with provincial restrictions, and financially solvent. RallySport Ontario is very grateful for the support of our clubs, volunteers, competitors, sponsors and fans. Planning is well underway for 2021 - look for some announcements shortly! Today was prep day for our September 27th Rallyx. Over 40km of dragging on our 1.9km long course on the Golton property and fixing a few ruts and holes. We are... now up to 23 entries and counting! Don't miss out on the fun. Under COVID19 regulations, masks will be required when social distancing is not possible, up to 2 drivers/car and unfortunetely, no spectators. This past weekend, six of our members were part of the RSO team that went to Rallye Defi 2020 COVID edition to do timing and to observe precautions put in place against the virus. Hats off to the organizers for running a great event under difficult circumstances!!

Some news from our one and only Ross Wood concerning Tall Pines! Donna C and I (Ross) just finished spending the day out on the Tall Pines roads, doing a full run of the Route Book. The committee has been doing lots of planning, but today is the first time actually out there. Now it feels like it will really happen. We have had positive feedback from all of the municipalities about our requests for road use with the exception of the MNRF re the forest roads (Egan Creek). N...ot that there have been negative - just on essential work-only regimen and not able to even consider our request. Then just as we were almost done, I received an email from my MNRF contact saying that she is now able to accept our request, if we are still interested. Guess what I will be doing tomorrow morn.
