We are glad to report back that our 2nd Annual Black History Celebration at the Edmonton City Hall was a success. We were enchanted of how it turned out to be. The Ogaden Somali Community of Alberta Residents (OSCAR) is excited and proud of the appointment of Ahmed Hussen as the federal minister for immigration, refugees, and citizenship. In August 2016, we had the honour and privilege of inviting and hosting the Honourable Minister Hussen while he was just a member of parliament for his York-South Weston constituency. We recognized the raw potential and talent in the legislator at the time and are now excited for him and our Somali-Canadians, African-Canadians and Canadians in general of his promotion. We hope to work with him and our government in hand-to-hand in serving our country by alleviating the underpinning obstacles, and challenges our society faces.
