From holding charities accountable - to addressing hatred online - to improving access to healthcare - to ensuring judges have the right facts at hand in court. The Morgane Oger Foundation made 8 asks at the Canadian Feminist Forum this morning aimed at improving equality in Canada for Trans women. If enacted these improvements would profoundly help diminish systemic discrimination against trans women and all other transgender, two-spirit, and nonbinary Canadians.... https://www.ogerfoundation.ca/news/feministforum-eight-asks

Hi all, Feminist Forum is a 2-day event Jan 26 2021 and Feb 2 2021 with the goal to impact Canada’s priorities at CSW65 Generation Equality Forum 2021 and the UN SDG2030 Agenda by discussing the feminist movement in the COVID-19 era. Canadian prisoners continue to experience conditions of solitary confinement. Experts call the practice torture. Canada's courts have ruled that Correctional Service Canada’s previous regime of administrative segregation, and the conditions of solitary confinement it created, violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms... So why are we not doing better? Write your member of Parliement. Ask them to do better.

It's been almost 2 years since we won one of our very proudest victories, Oger v Whatcott. Earlier this week, Whatcott served his petition for judicial review o...n our client and we will be heading to court to defend that important win. Whatcott appended a complete transcript of the hearing to his petition, and I've been flipping through and remembering the deeply strange experience of those 5 days. Here's a blog post about it. So inspiring to attend U.N. event "Recognition and Respect of Diverse Families In Times of Global Pandemic" sponsored by South Africa and Switzerland. I was rep...resenting the Morgane Oger Foundation this morning and had the opportunity to ask a question to foster dialogue. I asked: "LGBTQIA+ community worldwide are seeing regressive legislation being enacted by states around us under the guise of a COVID-19 response that seeks to de-normalize our lives. What can civil society and faith communities do together to more-effectively address this and encourage states to resist pressure to roll back critical equality and inclusion measures?" Work together, don't allow a conservative fringe to drive the dialogue, don't leave faith-based organizations out of the story. It was also so good to see Ellen Woodsworth there and hear her comments encouraging applying intersectional analysis to work fostering inclusion. I will share the link to the zoom recording when it is available.

Following our letter to Bardish Chagger, we request a #virtualmeeting on behalf of 100 orgs to discuss emergency support for vulnerable #2SLGBTQI people. Despite current efforts, many are being left behind during the #COVID19 pandemic. Read the open letter: https://bit.ly/34zCCAe

There's quite a team keeping things together behind the scenes in our organization and we really could use your help. We're not fancy but our volunteers get important things done. This month alone we are spending $1200 on Freedom Of Information requests, over $2000 on insurance, and over $200 on our channels and 24-hour toll-free help line. We invite people who agree with what we do to help out with a monthly contribution. ... If you know anyone who can help us fund our work, they can contribute here: https://ogerfoundation.ca/donate

Asking for a friend: I wonder if the organizations cited in this homophobic and transphobic email project are charities. See below for the full text. Oh, and if... you are able to help us fight this type of exclusion and discrimination, please donate to the Morgane Oger Foundation: https://ogerfoundation.ca/donate The email below illustrates why we need to clamp down on groups accessing public funds through their charity status to incite discrimination and exclusion. Churches and groups named in this email are violating the terms of their charitable status. A reminder of Meghan Murphy's secular work at #GIDYVR, This group isn't just espousing transphobia but also homophobia. I would welcome citizens complaining to CRA and their religious organizations about these groups misusing their charitable status to cause harm through uncharitable acts. Because bigotry needs to have a price. Subject: Project Dovetail Special Invite Project Dovetail: the latest hate propaganda initiative. (Postponed from Saturday, February 1st, 2020 to March 7th, 2020 Location TBA (Moved from Cedar Grove Church, Surrey, BC, now location TBA.) ...fluff about registration... Pastor Paul Dirks and Parents United Canada are re-launching the highly successful Project Dovetail training event. This is a 1-day training event, Sat, February 1st, 9am-3:30pm at Cedar Grove Church, to equip the church to advocate for their families, churches, schools, neighbours, and Christ's truth in the midst of gender confusion and sexualization. Little children are being taught girls can become boys and vice-versa. Female privacy and protections are being compromised. Unhealthy sexual behaviors are being celebrated. Gender dysphoria is a social contagion. Parents are being told they cannot prevent their adolescent's medicalization. Schools refuse to tell parents what is going on with their children in schools. And young kids are being sexualized. All of this is happening under the guise of inclusion. Most people don't even know what is really happening in our schools and culture until it hits their family, and then it is often too late. Project Dovetail is a one-day training event to equip Christians in understanding the seismic shift going on in our culture and providing them with the tools to respond: key facts to know, approaches to take, and how to speak cogently, compassionately, and courageously on the topics of gender identity (transgender) and sexual orientation (homosexuality). Come learn what the mainstream media will never tell you. Our approach is grounded in both Scripture and the best peer-reviewed secular research. This training event is for parents, grandparents, teachers, politicians, advocates, Christian leaders, Pastors, and concerned citizens. Lunch and resources are included in the cost. What Pastors and Leaders are saying: Pastor Paul Dirks is a leading voice in the Canadian Church today addressing the issues of Sexuality and Transgender Ideology which are challenging our Parental Rights and Freedoms of Speech and Religion in our democracy. His training and academic study of the issues has qualified him to speak with great authority and wisdom informing Parents, Pastors and the Faith Community intelligently and with credibility. The Dovetail Training is, in essence, a 21 century apologetics response to one of the greatest challenges facing Christians in our Western Culture. I fully recommend my dear friend and colleague. Rev. Giulio Lorefice Gabeli, Senior Pastor, Westwood Church, Coquitlam, President of the Association of Christian Ministries Vancouver "Pastor Paul Dirks is, to my knowledge, a formidable lay-expert in Canada/BC on medical research pertaining to transgender and homosexual health outcomes, both physical and psychological. He has done extensive and objective scientific research into these complex and often misunderstood topics." Zoltan Horvath, MD, FRCPC, FAAP "A critical shift has taken place in our culture which has brought with it the total redefinition of human sexuality, personal identity, and marriage. This shift comes complete with new and profoundly unbiblical paradigms. Paradigms that frankly threaten the future of the church as we currently know it. Pastor Paul Dirks is a man that God has uniquely called and gifted to help equip and retool the church for this critical juncture of history before the return of Christ. We Pastors due to the demands of our everyday ministries are largely ill-equipped to face the vicious onslaught that is creeping closer and closer to each of our church doorsteps. I can't recommend more highly or strongly that every Pastor take this vital Dovetail training." Pastor Kevin Cavanaugh, Lead Pastor, Cedar Grove Baptist "Project Dovetail has been an incredibly eye opening course for my leaders and I. It helped us understand the threat against our moral values and how to stand against this threat. I highly recommend this training." Pastor Wes Daase, SPA Church "Over the last two years pastor Paul Dirks has made a very valuable contribution to the churches of Metro Vancouver with the Project Dovetail seminar. He has the ability to combine clear biblical teaching with cutting edge research to bring much needed clarity on contemporary social issues. Project Dovetail is an important resource and I have no hesitation in recommending it to other pastors and ministry leaders." Pastor David G Carson, Secretary, Association Christian Ministries Vancouver
