To all of our grinders out there, You are not alone! This is a case where the patient was suffering from severe erosions that were caused by a mixture of acidity in their diet and acid reflux. In addition to the acid erosion, this patient also had a grinding and clenching habit that helped to form the craters in the incisal (top) edges of the teeth. In some cases this can cause severe sensitivity. We restored all of the teeth by placing fillings to cover the eroded areas and advised the patient that getting a wearing a night guard every night when sleeping would help to minimize the risk of their clenching/grinding habit causing the same problem in the future. If you are think you grind or clench your teeth, send us a DM and we can discuss night guard options for you.

X-rays are a really good diagnostic tool that help up to see anything we cannot see with our eyes. Even if we can see the problem with our eyes, there is a good chance that there is something going on inside the tooth beyond just what can be observed without an x-ray. The next time you visit the dentist and they take x-rays, ask to see what they look like and you’ll be surprised to see how long a tooth really is!

Implants are a tooth replacement option that best replicates a natural tooth. In an initial surgery, the tooth is removed. Depending on the removal, the implant can sometimes be placed right away, other times it requires a healing period for the bone to regenerate. After placing the implant, we place something called a healing cap. This helps the gums grow back in a way that favours the eventual crown that will be placed over the implant. After the healing period has passed, ...an impression coping is placed in the space and we take an impression of the area and we send the impression along with the coping to a lab who fabricates the final crown. About a week later we place an abutment, which is basically a wide post and the crown permanently and you have a fully functioning tooth. If you are interested in finding out more about implants, please DM us. See more

A bridge is a great way to replace a missing tooth. It will prevent the teeth from drifting and will close the gap that a missing tooth leaves behind. If you think you might need a bridge we would be happy to take a look and let you know what options you have!

A bridge is one of many tooth replacement options. When you lose a tooth you are left with a large gap and leaving this gap unfilled can cause a number of problems. A bridge uses the support of the teeth before and after the gap to bridge a tooth in the middle. Think of an actual bridge and how there are usually posts on each side and a road in the middle. Essentially the same thing would be happening in your mouth but the road would be a tooth that fills the gap. If you are interested in knowing more, please DM us!
