Okanagan Equine Veterinary Services 10.11.2020

COVID 19 As a local business, the health and well-being of our customers, clients, and of course, horses are as always, our top priority. We are closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID 19) situation as it unfolds. Our office and farm are open as normal; Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and all our veterinarians are actively continuing their visits within our communities.... At this time, experts have not expressed concern about transmission to or from animals. Multiple International health organizations have indicated that pets and other domestic animals are not considered at risk for contracting COVID 19. As always, animal owners should continue to include pets and other animals in their emergency preparedness planning, including keeping a two-week supply of food and medications on hand. If you have an appointment booked with us either at the clinic or at your farm/barn, we would appreciate it if you could let us know if you or anyone that visits your farm/barn are having to self isolate; as we can easily rearrange your appointment for after the 14-day quarantine period. Our thoughts go out to anyone who has been personally impacted by COVID 19, and we hope that you, your families and all your animals are safe and well. The team at Okanagan Equine Veterinary Services.

For those of you that have been left confused by the recent notification from Equine Canada (see link below) regarding vaccines, shows and your horse, some clarification on our Vaccine Protocol, which follows EC guidelines, is below; 1) Vaccinate in the Spring with 3 way/WNV + Flu/Rhino (6 way) 2) If leaving for competitions/shows vaccinate a minimum of 2 WEEKS PRIOR to the show/competition. 3) Booster your horse with Flu/Rhino EVERY 6 months.... We hope that this clarifies vaccinations for you all, if anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office at 250 764 9888, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm. https://www.equestrian.ca//protect-your-horse-today-new-va
