A much more sophisticated & healthier version of purple drank. Think of it like Lean 2.0 for the holistic crowd . I like to add a few tsps of this mix & a squeeze of a half a lemon + water for fancy lemonade. . Although I can’t say this amount of lavender will do a ton for instances of acute anxiety, it is still a lovely (and delicious) plant ally to incorporate in daily acts of care, like the drinks we consume!... . This also makes for a wonderful gift - and the basic tea to syrup recipe can be applied to all kinds of herbals (& fruits too) - pineapple ginger, rose raspberry, strawberry basil... ooo the possibilities! Whip up some delicious summer mocktails / cocktails or use as ice cream toppings (etc!) . To make: 1:1 Tea to Sugar ratio ~ Brew a strong lavender tea using 1/4-1/2 cups dried/fresh lavender to 2 cups boiling water, add 2/3 cups blueberries, infuse for ~20 minutes & filter tea (squeezing the blueberries to get all their juices!) Add tea to a pot on the stove, turning heat on low & adding 2 cups sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved & incorporated. Bottle in a freshly sterilized & air tight glass container (mason jars or Grolsch style beer bottles are excellent) and store in the fridge. . These tend to be consumed before their freshness is in question because but have a shelf life when stored in the fridge of 4-8 weeks. . If sugar is something you can’t consume, lavender lemonades can also easily be made by storing lavender tea in the fridge overnight & adding lemon juice & your preferred sweeteners. . #lavendersyrup #lavenderlemonade #fancydrinks #lavender #lavandula #diyrecipe #mocktail #kitchenwitch #herbnerd #herbalmedicine #plantbased #sizzurp #kelownabc #kelownamom #ylw #lakecountrybc #okanaganlife See more

Just doing a little garbling of some fresh elderberries for syrup in my herbal garage lab.. Garbling is a fun word that essentially means to separate the desired bits off of the undesired bits when processing herbs. . I am feeling blessed to do this work and grateful for the support that I have. . I am beyond excited and grateful to have this dedicated medicine sanctuary in my home and can’t wait to share more with you from this creative space!... . #okanaganherbalist #herbalist #apothecary #elderberries #sambucus #medicinemaker #naturalmedicine #madewithcare #lakecountrybc #ylw #okanaganlife #kelownanow #elderberrysyrup #natureprovides #phytotherapy #medicalherbalist #plantmedicine #garble #tinctures See more

Berries & Faeries ~ . Saskatoons are out and many! This a wonderfully widely abundant & delicious food source in our northern climate. . Like many wild berries, saskatoons have a very rich content of free-radical scavenging (also commonly known as antioxidant) compounds ~ compounds like these are wonderful allies to the body in reducing inflammation and degeneration from oxidative stress. ... . The compounds specifically found in berries like these (anthocyanins) are well researched and tend to be helpful for supporting veinous/capillary integrity, which in turn lends to being helpful for many areas of wellbeing ~ Some of the ways I apply berry medicine therapeutically: for varicosities, supporting integrity of capillaries & flow of fresh blood and nutrients to the eyes.. really degeneration on all fronts - cognitive too - a highly important aspect in supporting folks in cognitive decline is maintaining vascular integrity within the CNS with compounds that prevent degeneration related to oxidative stress. . In addition, wild berries like these are a great treat ally for folks with metabolic disease like diabetes, they have a very low glycemic index and again, help support integrity of veins and capillaries. . When you taste the dark but tart juice of some of these wild berries you can almost taste their affinity for nourishing, toning, astringing and how they might be helpful for our vascular system. . To spend the time gathering the fruits bestowed on our beautiful land is to give praise. Berry picking is a prayer - I saw this on a patch recently made by @the.foragersclub ~ it is true. . Remember to sing a little when you gather, call your ancestors, they love to hear your song ~+ it is a sweet treat for mama earth. . #saskatoon #amelanchier #berrylove #berrypicking #givepraise #natureprovides #holisticnutrition #ancestors #gather #wildcraft #okananganvalley #okanaganfruit #kelownabc #lakecountrybc #antioxidant #anthocyanin #okanaganherbalist #kelownaherbalist See more
