Postpartum rage. Did you experience it? Culturally, women arent supposed to feel angry. And feelings of rage are uncomfortable and frightening. And after we... lose our cool the shame can come, which silences us and prevents us for reaching out for help or support - when those or two things we NEED and DESERVE. Great post below about PP rage from @_happyasamother: Posted @withregram @_happyasamother Anger is a distress signal. Anger in the postpartum period is a red flag that is being overlooked and misunderstood. Studies have shown that moms struggling with PPD/PPA are more likely to have symptoms of rage. This rage is often intense, hard to control and feels very uncharacteristic. Here is a short excerpt from Jill Bucher of @todaysparent ------- Anger is indeed a normal emotion that we can all have, but being prone to anger can indicate theres something going on that needs to change. She [Christine Ou] adds that there is some evidence that shows that if a woman is both angry and depressed, the depression can last longer and be more intense. The things that moms are angry about postpartum arent earth-shattering. Some feel trapped or helpless as they shoulder so many new responsibilities caring for a new baby while their own needs are left unfulfilled. Others find the reality of motherhood and the supports they receive dont live up to their expectations. And many feel guilty that they arent the picture of the idealized self-sacrificing mother thats upheld in our society. Whats more surprising is that no ones thought to look at anger as a red flag for postpartum mood disorders sooner. Ou has a theory as to why it has been overlooked: Culturally, we often arent comfortable with the emotion of anger because it can imply that youre not in controlespecially for women. And women whove just had babies are expected to be particularly blissful. ----- https://www.todaysparent.com//postpartum-anger-is-the-r/

We often look to Brene Brown for her ongoing wisdom. This is a great interview with professor Ibram X. Kendi if you can create some time
Having honest and open discussions about race and multiculturalism from a very early age can set the stage for a much broader and deeper understanding of these issues as your child grows. Heres a great age appropriate list provided by the NY Times. Order a book, call your library, take a step towards changing the future for our youth. So much of how we think about race was taught to us by generations before. Lets teach our little people with open, currently educated hearts
I know there is so much, all at once... from many, many directions... I believe that pathlessness is power... I see it all the time... so, you can either lean into this with me or borrow my belief for however you need to move through.
Rawle Iam James is an incredible facilitator who has co-facilitated workshops for us in the past. Hes offering an opportunity to explore yourself and develop a new paradigm within his workshop beyond the discomfort. Highly recommended by our clinic!!
Humanity is the human race, which includes everyone on Earth. The word humanity is from the Latin humanitas for "human nature, kindness. Its hard to put into words the amount of terror and despair the world is experiencing right now. Our deepest hope is that we can stand united across the globe and do, say, behave in ways that are supportive of our communities and vulnerable populations, in ways that support justice, peace and our collective sense of a loving and compassionate humanity.
