Okanagan Falls Daily News 03.02.2021

The fire started at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were on scene and appear to be protecting power lines. The BC Wildfire Service said there are three firefighters attending the fire along with the local fire department. The blaze originally was on the other side of the river, providing a natural fire guard. However, residents in the area are concerned about what may happen if the wind shifts. A boil-water notice for Okanagan Falls has been removed. Okanagan Falls Irrigation District stated homeowner need no longer boil water for consumption. The notice had been in effect since July 28, with authorities advising residents in its lower district to boil water for any consumption, including drinking, brushing teeth, making ice or food preparation. We’ve been on this water advisory thing for a couple of weeks now and that in itself has been more than inconvenient, either boiling the water or having to buy it, Pamela Dishkin told Castanet last week. 2:10 am Ok Falls Photo: Wayne Rodgers Local volunteer fire department returning from a first aid call (dispatched at 1:45 to 8th and Cedar) directed to smoke at rear of service station. Switch truck and back to S/S. Power goes out in wide area for sometime. VFD returns to scene knocks down fire. Picture here taken in good light this morning. Limited info at this time.
