Django is a very lucky dog - not only did his owners get him a baby sister, they also hired a trainer to teach him appropriate behaviors before they got their new puppy. Now that she's here, he can pass on his new behaviors instead of showing her his old unruly habits When Villanelle arrived, Django's day training continued so he could still be provided with enrichment and learn new appropriate behaviors while his owners focused on getting their new puppy settled. Learn mo...re about day training here if you'd like some help teaching your dog: https://www.okheavenlydog.com/day-training.html

Kona can't wait to do another repetition of training! She relates to most trainers, she enjoys working in actual training sessions and doesn't care for writing about them. Why is data collection so important to us? Record keeping improves training and helps others see the value of progressive reinforcement techniques... Graphs help clients see the progress their dogs are making when working with difficult behaviours such as separation anxiety or aggression Data collection helps us create and modify a tailored training plan for each dog. When we have a record of what works and what doesn't, it helps us set dogs up for success in future training sessions.

Murphy did so well with her day training! She was such an enthusiastic pup to work with and her handlers are even more enthusiastic to maintain her new behaviors

This is Doreen and her dog Anu working on come when called. Doreen has some of the best dedication to training I've ever seen and she just turned 90 last week! She likes to let Anu chase the ball and play off-leash, so she's working on a reliable recall. In the video, Anu is being distracted by a toy and Doreen rewards her for coming, for staying and finally for jumping into her lap where she can put the leash on. I'm so proud of her ability to turn away from distractions so... quickly and her enthusiasm when her mom calls her, they've been working super hard! In-person training can only be done outside, but that gives people some wonderful opportunities to work with distractions! So I haven't posted in a long while. Something about having more time to do things such as post new content was an overwhelming thought during a pandemic. So here is a short, fun video of my own training with Bandit (he's practicing his back up). Your training sessions don't have to be long or involve a bunch of equipment. As long as behaviors are reinforced, they will continue. Using different rewards helps people integrate training into their daily routine and switches things up for the dogs

It's important to teach your dog safety behaviors- little Chevy is learning to stay on his mat while the door is being opened. This prevents him from accidentally sneaking out unattended!

This is Hershey, he's showing off his new Balance Harness Hershey is reactive on leash when he's out walking. A back clip harness allows his handlers to have more control over his centre of gravity should he accidently lunge at vehicles on leash. It also helps to have good equipment while training, especially when dealing with stressful behaviors such as fear. His handlers are able to focus on treat delivery, clicker mechanics and body language rather than untangling a dog...'s legs while a trigger is approaching. We have a few of these harnesses in stock, feel free to send us a message if you're interested! If you're wanting help with your fearful or reactive dog, don't hesitate to contact us for help: www.okheavenlydog.com

Little dogs need training too! Tiny encourages owners of little dogs to seek out help for behaviour problems just as you would if they were big! Tiny's learning to ignore triggers on walks and get along with young family members +=
