Lest we Forget. COVID-19 prevents the Kagawong Cenotaph Board from holding a Remembrance Day service at the Park Centre this year. However here is a brief message on behalf of the Board.
The Kagawong Cenotaph Board laid flags at veteran’s graves at the cemetery Sunday. Board member Dianne Fraser laid a flag at her father‘s grave.
Hi Folks, after less than a day we now have more than enough vintage cameras available for our future exhibit. On behalf of the gang at the Old Mill Heritage Centre thank you so much for your response. For those of you who have cameras to loan out to the museum, we will be in touch. Best always.
Manitoulin Recorder did a nice story about veteran and Kagawong Cenotaph Board member Bud Dearing.
The museum is hoping to display "vintage" cameras for a future exhibit. Would anyone be interested in donating or loaning out a camera that may be stored away in your attic? Messenger me if you have an idea, Thanks.
Here a Remembrance Day update courtesy of the fine folks at the Manitoulun Expositor.
A tough year to plan Remembrance Day events.
Happy Thanksgiving! https://youtu.be/mkGZjQjusXI
We are into the final week of the 2020 season with our last day of operation this Sunday. Hope everyone is staying safe.
A beautiful fall day at the Dodge Lodge.
Latest update regarding Remembrance Day. Covid-19 is now into its second wave resulting in revised Provincial & Municipal guidelines. The Kagawong Cenotaph Board regrettably has concluded it cannot safely hold a formal service this year. It breaks our heart that we can't proceed but hopes are high we can return to host this sacred event in 2021. Lest we forget.
Christmas in Kagawong is a go. It will be earlier this year due to COVID-19 and will happen on Oct 10th at The Market grounds at The Old Church 10 to 3pm. Potential venders should contact Sharon Alkenbrack.
Today is the 75th anniversary of the formal Japanese surrender ceremony that took place on the deck of USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. The signing effectively brought an end to World War 2.
Great story about the OLD MILL in this week's Recorder.
We'd like to keep our "History Day in Kagawong" videos on our website a bit longer. Just go to our website (kagawongmuseum.ca) to check them out.
Today is the 82nd anniversary of the death of Daniel Dodge. It looks like progress is being made on the movie. Congrats to John Hawke and Deb Wilson for their dedication to this project.
