Stallion Update for OBF. As many of you know OBF Klinton was gelded last summer. That was the bad news, the good news is that we have a good supply of excellent quality frozen semen. He was gelded mostly due to the fact that we were using his frozen semen instead of fresh because it is so good. He was a big powerful horse to collect semen from and I (Paul Johnston) am not that big and not as young as I once was.He has a 80% conception rate with frozen semen. That plus his ap...titude in his new career as a Hunter made the choice to geld less difficult. For those who would like to breed to him you can purchase a dose of semen from him for $500. The good news is that if it does not work you can re breed with a second dose at no cost for the semen. This arrangement is only available to mares(who are candidates for frozen semen) bred by myself at Avon Animal Hospital. This is due to the fact that breeding with frozen semen takes experience and we do not wish to deplete our supply of semen which is good, but not without limits. We are open to this arrangement with out of province mare owners who are breeding younger mares and whose veterinarians have experience with frozen semen.
