If you're not shredding the leaves and mulching garden beds, get them to the curb! PSA: avoid mulching with Norway maple or walnut tree leaves; these have phytotoxins that will do the opposite of nourishing your plants (this is a bit contentious among gardeners--don't @ me!)

The development boom is bringing dramatic change to its urban environment through intensificati...on and increases in density. The threat to heritage buildings and landscapes increases every day. At the same time cities are grappling with the climate crisis and pressure to deal with social equity and historical injustice. The pressures in cities across Canada are intense. Good minds are calling into question the very principles on which our approach to heritage preservation and planning are based and proposing a return to practices that in past impinged on stable neighborhoods and demolished historic buildings. This talk will consider these broader issues facing Canadian cities and Waterloo Region in particular. See more

Topics to be covered include: factors that are shaping how Kitchener is growing, an overview of key planning legislation, an introduction to different types of development processes, and... tangible ways about how to be involved in the development process.
