Global reports that Newfoundland and Labrador election officials have cancelled in-person voting a day before many polling stations were set to open, in response to an alarming rise of COVID-19 cases in the province. Elections Newfoundland and Labrador said Friday evening that the provincial election will now shift entirely to mail-in voting, with ballots being accepted until March 1. Voters have until Monday at 8 p.m. to apply for voting packages, according to a statement fr...om chief electoral officer Bruce Chaulk, extending a deadline originally set for Saturday night. Election officials had already postponed the vote for 18 of the province’s 40 districts due to the spread of COVID-19, mainly due to a loss of election workers unwilling to work amid fears of exposure. The decision came shortly after health officials moved the entire province back into Alert Level 5, the highest level under Newfoundland and Labrador’s pandemic plan. The province’s major political parties praised the actions of both Chaulk and Fitzgerald Friday, yet Progressive Conservative Leader Ches Crosbie criticized the delay in making a decision on in-person voting. Our province deserves a thoughtful conversation about why it took so long for us to reach the right decision in postponing this election and how we hold our political leaders accountable, he wrote. But that discussion must wait for another day. A spokesperson for the Progressive Conservatives told Global News it was unclear what the delay in voting would mean for further campaigning leading up to March 1, and was hopeful more information would be provided in the coming days. So even the PC leader thinks it is okay. He will likely regret his decision once the mail-in ballots are counted. Would you agree with that?

ABC news reports that an Australian infectious disease expert says Chinese authorities refused to give raw data on early COVID-19 cases to a World Health Organization-led team probing the origins of the pandemic. The team had requested raw patient data on the 174 cases of COVID-19 that China had identified from the early phase of the outbreak in Wuhan in December 2019, as well as other cases, but were only provided with a summary according to Professor Dominic Dwyer. That raw... data is known as "line listings", Professor Dwyer said, and would contain details such as what questions were asked of individual patients, their responses and how their responses were analysed. He said that gaining access to the raw data was especially important since only half of the 174 cases had exposure to the Huanan market, the now-shuttered wholesale seafood centre in Wuhan where the virus was initially detected. "That's why we've persisted to ask for that," Professor Dwyer told Reuters on Saturday. "Why that doesn't happen, I couldn't comment. "Whether it's political or time or it's difficult But whether there are any other reasons why the data isn't available, I don't know." A summary of the team's findings could be released as early as next week, the WHO said on Friday. The team, which arrived in China in January and spent four weeks looking into the origins of the COVID-19 outbreak, was limited to visits organised by their Chinese hosts and prevented from contact with community members, due to health restrictions. The first two weeks were spent in hotel quarantine. He doesn’t know but the rest of us do. Funny how that is. And we say, like we have always said, that the virus came from a lab in China. If you had not agreed with us in the past, do you agree with us now?

The Canadian Press reports that Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he thinks the federal gas-tax fund that provides cities with cash for infrastructure projects should be doubled to stimulate local economic recoveries. Singh made the proposal, which had the feel of a campaign pledge, during a meeting Friday with the mayors of Canada's biggest cities. The gas-tax fund is one of the few mechanisms the federal government has to send money directly to cities instead of having ...to move it through provinces, but the money can only be used on capital projects, not to supplement operating budgets. This year, the total funding was worth $2.2 billion. Singh says the funding should be doubled for the next four years. In a release, the NDP leader says the pandemic has been hard on cities and the federal government should give municipalities tools to quickly get back on their fiscal feet. Doubling the gas-tax fund isn't new. The Liberals doubled funding in 2019 to $4.4 billion as an end-run around provinces the government argued were holding up project approvals and slowing the oft-criticized flow of federal construction dollars. As the pandemic ate into municipal budgets last year, the Liberals decided to move gas-tax funds in one shot in June so the cash would hit local coffers faster. More tax on the over-burden middle class tax payers because he knows that socialists and liberals would likely never have to pay tax with all the tax breaks they get. Just saying.

Post Millennial reports that former Liberal Party MP Frank Baylis, who has been the topic of controversy in Parliament after his medical firm was given a $237 million contract without calls for bids, is being summoned back to Parliament Hill to serve as a witness at the Commons ethics committee hearings on federal contracting, according to Blacklock's Reporter. "We will be reaching out to Frank Baylis," said Conservative MP David Sweet. The Commons ethics committee voted to r...eview "all aspects of the government’s involvement with Baylis Medical Company Inc. as well as former Liberal Member of Parliament Frank Baylis, including the awarding of a procurement contract for medical devices" on November 13. The motion was sponsored by NDP MP Charlie Angus, after heavy criticism that the Trudeau Liberals were spending at an unprecedented rate. Contracts given to Baylis' company also include $273,237 towards the medical contract itself, with an additional $422,946 "research contract" with the Department of Industry, totalling $696,183 in taxpayer dollars. "The government needs to be on notice that the money they’re spending in a pandemic is an unprecedented amount of money," said NDP MP Charlie Angus in September. "The money has to go out the door fast, but it has to follow the rules so Canadians' interests are put first, and not just people who know people in the government, not just in the power of the lobbyists." Angus continued: "Prior to the WE Scandal, Canadians had a real sense of trust, that we were in an unprecedented economic and medical crisis, the government is there to work for us, we put our confidence in them, and then we saw the WE Scandal... People said, wait a minute: A group that close to the Prime Minister’s Office was given that much money? How did that happen?" "It raises questions about other contracts," Angus concluded. Yes, it does raise questions. More questions on how CORRUPT can a Liberal government get?

Blacklock reports that the Liberal Cabinet spent $2,446,026 in its four-year campaign for a seat on the United Nations Security Council, records show. It was the equivalent of nearly $23,000 for every vote Canada received in its failed bid: There can be an unhealthy quest to get a Security Council seat at any expense. CBC reports that at this point in last year's flu season, Canada had already recorded 711 positive cases of influenza. So far this year, there have been just 17. "Influenza is way behind the eight ball here," said Dr. Gerald Evans, chair of infectious disease in the department of medicine at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont.... Many health experts feared that a fall wave of COVID-19 would not only be worse than the first wave in the spring, but that it would come just as seasonal flu infections started to spread, making it impossible for hospitals to keep up. COVID-19 is proving to be worse this fall, with more than 1,400 people in hospital, about one-fifth of them in critical care. The flu, however, is not. In the first week of November, not one province or territory reported a single patient hospitalized with the flu, compared with 60 during the same week a year ago. In 2019, provinces reported 147 lab-confirmed cases of flu the first week of November. This year, they reported four. This comes despite testing more than twice as many people for flu than usual almost 10,000 tests were done in the first week of November, compared to a six-year average of about 4,500. "The percentage of laboratory tests positive for influenza has remained at exceptionally low levels," says the Public Health Agency of Canada's weekly flu watch report. Signs from the Southern Hemisphere, which gets hit with flu season first, were reason to hope the "twindemic" wasn't going to happen here. New Zealand said its flu infections were down 99.8 per cent, and in Australia, lab-confirmed cases of flu were down 93 per cent. In 2019, more than 800 Australians died of the flu. In 2020, that number to date is 36. South Africa's National Institute for Communicable Diseases reported only one case of the flu out of about 4,000 random surveillance tests performed. Most years the program detects about 1,000 cases. While Canada's flu season is still in its early days it typically starts in late August and dies out in April Evans said all the signs here suggest Canada will report similar numbers in the end. He said most of the credit goes to the public health measures taken to slow COVID-19 the hand washing, social distancing and mask-wearing as well as the dramatic drop in international travel. Evans said even if travellers from abroad are getting in, they're less likely to bring the flu with them because influenza is so low elsewhere as well. Things that make you go hmmm

CTV reports that a former UCP candidate in the 2019 provincial election has filed a $7 million defamation lawsuit against the NDP, along with several individuals and media companies. Caylan Ford was a United Conservative Party (UCP) candidate in the riding of Calgary-Mountain View before dropping out of the race days into the campaign after private messages she had previously made on social media on the issue of race were released. The amended lawsuit, filed Nov. 12, names a ...number of people and companies as defendants, including: Kiram A. Jivraj, an individual; The Broadbent Institute, which operates PressProgress; The New Democrats of Canada Association (NDP); Progress Alberta; Duncan Kinney, who published work on the Progress Alberta website; Avnish Nanda, an individual Luke LeBrun, whose work was published on PressProgress; Stephen Magusiak, whose work was published on PressProgress; Jeremy Nolais, who was chief of staff to then-premier Rachel Notley; Rakhi Pancholi, then the NDP MLA for Edmonton-Whitemud; David Khan, leader of the Alberta Liberal Party; Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC); Toronto Star Newspapers, and; Emma McIntosh, whose work was published by the Toronto Star. The suit claims Jivraj made untruthful allegations about Ford a number of times, including in a March 3, 2018 text message and an Oct. 1, 2018 letter. It also claims statements published on Oct. 13, 2018 and Dec. 13, 2018 by PressProgress were defamatory. Other allegedly defamatory statements were published on social media and in blog posts by individuals named in the suit. The suit also claims stories published by CBC and the Toronto Star were false and defamatory. Ford is seeking $5 million for defamation and $2 million in punitive damages along with $150,000 from PressProgress, CBC and Jivraj for "intrusion upon Ford's seclusion." The suit is also seeking $500,000 from Jivraj for "intentional infliction of mental suffering." None of the allegations have been proven in court and no statements of defence have been filed. We wish her well in her suit against the WOKE who deserve to be put in their place. What say you?

Post Millennial reports that Calgary's city council has just approved a motion to begin the defunding of its police force, the Calgary Police Services. The motion passed with a solid 9 to 5 majority in the Council. It specifically calls for the reallocation of $20 million CAD from the budget of the Calgary Police Services over a two-year period. The money is slated to be funneled into bolstering various social services. Calgary has had activists in and out of its city council... pushing for this motion over the past several months. Councilor Evan Woolley tabled the motion, backed by Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi, and fellow Councilors George Chahal and Gian-Carlo Carra. The mayor has been supportive of the motion and Calgary's police chief Mark Neufeld, back on September 10, surprisingly made a statement saying that defunding his own police force was "a fair discussion to have." Neufeld went on to say "We commit to reallocating funds from our 2021 operating budget to design an alternative crisis response model that best services our community." Other Alberta politicians aren't so enthusiastic, however. Alberta's Justice Kaycee Madu said that the idea of defunding the police is misguided. Calgary mayoral candidate and Councilor Jeromy Farkas has also voiced strong opposition to the idea, saying he was not opposed in principle, but that due diligence would be necessary to ensure proper allocation of the funds. People on social media have also been scathingly critical of these new measures, feeling that crime is already on the rise, and that this will only make it worse. Specifics of where the $20 million would be allocated under this motion have not been made available yet. If Calgary, the heart of Conservatism, has now become WOKE then there is little hope for the rest of us Conservatives elsewhere. What a sad state of affairs.

Post Millennial reports that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined other state leaders of the G20 Saturday to promise foreign aid and assistance to poorer nations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadian Press reports. G20 leaders also discussed how to "build back better" and pave the way for an "inclusive, sustainable and resilient future." The group vowed to ensure a fair distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, drugs and tests around the world while hinting at economic sup...port in the post-pandemic world. The promises have been outlined on the European Council's website and detailed in the G20 Riyadh Summit "Leaders' Declaration." The declaration also states that rich countries will hold off on collecting debt payments from poorer states, countries whose economies have been slammed especially hard by the pandemic. The Trudeau government's foreign aid spending increased by 4.9% to $6.4 billion in 2019, up from CAD$6.1 billion in 2018. In March of this year the Trudeau government promised $50 million to poorer nations to tackle affects of COVID-19, that funding was apart of a greater United Nations COVID-19 humanitarian response plan. Democracy Watch challenged the ruling in Federal Court. It argued Shepherd should have considered that as a board member of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada, the spiritual leader of the world’s Ismaili Muslims was directly and legally connected to the organization bearing his name, and was acting as its representative in giving a gift to the prime minister. In an April 2019 decision, Federal Court Justice Patrick Gleeson said the commissioner was required to take a broad view o...f the circumstances in addressing the complaint. Instead, she performed a narrow, technical and targeted analysis lacking in transparency, justification and intelligibility. Gleeson directed now-commissioner Nancy Belanger to re-examine the matter. The federal government then appealed Gleeson’s ruling. A three-member Federal Court of Appeal panel unanimously found in April that the Lobbying Act does not create a right for a member of the public to have a complaint investigated. Parliament has established no process, procedures, mechanisms or obligations for disposing of complaints from the public, Justice Donald Rennie wrote on behalf of the court. As a result, the lobbying commissioner’s decision not to investigate a public complaint is not a decision or order subject to judicial review, he wrote. It is therefore not necessary to consider the reasonableness of the decision. That prompted Democracy Watch to ask the Supreme Court to look at the issue. As usual, the high court gave no reasons for declining to hear the case. Democracy Watch co-founder Duff Conacher said Thursday the decision strikes a serious blow against the public's right to complain about corruption and wrongdoing by politicians, government officials and lobbyists, and to hold democracy watchdogs accountable. The decision effectively ends four other ongoing Democracy Watch cases involving challenges to rulings by the lobbying commissioner, the group added. In December 2017, Mary Dawson, the federal ethics commissioner at the time, found Trudeau contravened four sections of the Conflict of Interest Act in relation to the island vacation. She said the holiday could reasonably be seen as a gift designed to influence the prime minister. Wow. Then perhaps it is time that parliament put something in place which allows for a public complaint. Of all the stupidity one would think that a public complaint would be a given. But all we can say at this point is that the Liberal corruption never ends.

The Canadian Press reports that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has blasted opposition parties for continuing their effort to dig into the WE Charity issue, and says his government is instead focused on helping Canadians through the COVID-19 pandemic. The comments follow Conservative calls for a new anticorruption committee in the House of Commons to take over several parliamentary probes into a multimillion-dollar federal program for students that the government chose WE Chari...ty to manage in the spring. New Democrats have also proposed a special committee that would dive into the government’s various responses to COVID-19, including the now-defunct Canada Student Services Grant. Both parties' calls come as opposition parties have indicated they plan to resurrect the earlier probes at the Commons’ finance and ethics committees, among others, which were suspended for months when Trudeau prorogued Parliament in August. The prime minister sidestepped questions Tuesday about whether he would support having one special committee continue the investigation into WE, suggesting instead that the issue is closed for the government and its priority is dealing with COVID-19. "We are entirely focused on this second wave of COVID-19," he said. "We will continue to stay focused on what we need to do to support Canadians facing a very difficult time right now." He went on to criticize the Conservatives, in particular, saying: "We have an awful lot of work to do and we're going to continue doing it. The opposition can focus on whatever it is they want. We will stay focused on Canadians." Of course Trudeau wants to focus on the Wuhan China Coronavirus and shove the We scandal under the rug. BNN reports that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may struggle to sell his ambitious new immigration plan to Canadians, a new survey shows. Only 17 per cent of respondents say the country should accept more immigrants in 2021 than it did last year, according to a Nanos Research Group poll conducted for Bloomberg News. That suggests most Canadians are less than enthusiastic about aggressive new targets announced last week. Trudeau hopes to attract 401,000 newcomers next year, 60,...000 more than in 2019. The target would rise by 10,000 in each subsequent year, bringing it to 421,000 in 2023. Respondents were asked whether the government should raise levels above last year’s actual inflows. An open-door policy is a central tenet of the Liberal government’s long-term growth agenda. But with the economy recovering from the damage wrought by COVID-19, opposition parties are raising concern. We’re facing 9 per cent to 10 per cent unemployment -- more than a million Canadians are out of work, Conservative lawmaker Raquel Dancho said in an interview, adding that affordable housing is also scarce. Where are these folks going to work? Where are these folks going to live? Closed borders and pandemic-related travel restrictions have slowed immigration this year and the country is on pace to meet only 60 per cent of its 2020 target of 341,000 permanent residents. And this is what the Liberal skewed NANOS poll revealed. So likely a lot less than 17% want more immigrants. We say perhaps as low as 5%. What say you?

The White House reports that the United States has a long and unfortunate history of election fraud. The Heritage Foundation is providing a list of election fraud cases from across the country, broken down by state, where individuals were either convicted of vote fraud, or where a judge overturned the results of an election. This is not an exhaustive list but simply a sampling that demonstrates the many different ways in which fraud is committed. Preventing, deterring, and p...rosecuting such fraud is essential to protecting the integrity of our voting process. There were 1071 cases of proven instances of voter fraud during the 2013 election which resulted in 938 criminal convictions, 43 civil penalties, 74 diversion programs, 8 judicial findings and 8 official findings. A detailed account of these incidents can be found here: https://www.whitehouse.gov//files/docs/pacei-voterfraudcas And there are many who say the 2020 election will be far worse in finding proven cases of voter fraud.
