In the Summer of 2013, Ivan and I started this little stand up paddling business out of our garage. Since then we’ve spent our summers getting our customers stoked on the sport of stand up. That first year, we could count the number of Yelowknife stand up paddlers (including us) on one hand. Fast forward 8 seasons and SUP is everywhere and in Yellowknife to stay! In the past eight summers I have had a blast building this business with Ivan. As you know small family businesses... involve the entire family so this is also thanks to Verity and Kai for sacrificing family time so that Ivan and I could do this together. As some know, it has been a long time goal of Ivan’s to head west and relocate on Vancouver Island. Well, that dream has finally become a reality with Ivan, Verity and Kai now currently en-route to beautiful BC. They leave with half of OTP as Ivan plans on starting something up on the coast. A long partnership has come to an end and it is bitter sweet. I am happy and excited for them but I will miss our local brewpub business meetings, training, paddle trips, trade shows, courses and just hanging around in the shop unpacking new gear, boards, and merchandise. It’s been an awesome adventure and I thank you, Ivan, for being the best business partner, friend, and a brother for life. I wish you nothing but success as you take your love of paddling with you and start something new. As for OTP in Yellowknife - With the loving support of Ev, Mali and Taya, I (we) will keep this family business rolling! I look forward to the adventures ahead.
