The repeats are just 12 stitches, which makes it easy to fall into rhythm. The designs aren’t big, so you get to enjoy lots of little finishes on the way to the big finish. Colours can be anything you want, and as many and varied as you wish. Fingering weight, DK, or worsted work best. I used Cascade 220 Solids & Heathers. The wool roving wall at the shop is a huge, bright rainbow of happiness. All of this gorgeous roving is available for purchase through our website and is ready for contactless delivery or curb-side pick-up. Natural Cheviot and merino silk blends are also available. Today I wore my math dress and attended an online class with @kateatherleyknits titled Math for Knitters. I’ve been enrolled in classes all weekend with @vogueknittinglive and have enjoyed it so incredibly much. I feel rejuvenated after some rough months with all the changes in business and life. What I’ve taken away most from the classes this weekend, and what is most valuable to me right now, is that I’m on the right track. I’m giving you guys good advice, my research i...nto fibre has guided me well, and my inbred appreciation for numbers, calculations, art, and perspective serve me well in my position as an LYS owner. My job isn’t to be the best knitter, crocheter, felt or embroidery artist - my job is to _know fibre_, understand gauge, do the math, and guide you to the best product for your project. I dabble in all the crafts, expert in none, and am driven by the experiments. I ask a lot of questions, read a lot, and watch a lot of YouTube tutorials plus other wool/fibre documentaries. My background in horticulture is helpful, my experience in academics - from being raised by teachers to working within the university system myself helps. My childhood babysitters were local artists and educators, and my life has always revolved around art and math. A wool shop is the perfect place to purge all my interests and assists. I am so grateful to do what I do, have the kinds of creative and heartfelt conversations each day as part of my job. Small business life isn’t easy, but LYS life really makes it worth every effort. One of my favourite yarns, Cascade 220 (solids and heathers) is a Peruvian Highland Wool, which is a hybrid of the native Corriedale with Merino, resulting in a durable yet lofty yarn with beautiful stitch definition. Cables to colourwork, there are endless possible projects for this yarn. Comprised of 100% wool, this yarn also works well for knit/crochet project to felt.
