Your placenta! The average placenta size is 22cm (9 inch) and these objects are close to that size. Now take a similar sized object and hold it up to your stomach. That is the size wound that is left in your uterus after giving birth. That is why rest is so important in the first 4-6 weeks after birth. You may feel like superwoman and go shopping at Costco for a birthday party the day after giving birth. (Seriously I know someone who did that. ) Or you may feel like a strang...er in your own body who got run over by a train. However you feel this is time for a well needed rest. Listen to me! After creating an entire human being and bringing them into the world, this IS THE TIME to call in all the reinforcements. Meals, cleaning your bathroom, grocery shopping and anything else you can think of. The people close to you want to be involved in this new life you created, and giving them a task to do is the best way for them to feel connected, and for you not to feel overwhelmed with visitors.
