Today marks the beginning of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18-25), which is celebrated around the world. The 2021 theme Abide in my love and... you shall bear much fruit (John 15:5-9) calls us to pray and to work for reconciliation and unity in the church, with our human family, and with all of creation. In Flanders Fields BY JOHN MCCRAE In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row,... That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

We must act now to protect all persons, including future generations from Bill C-7 As many of you know, the Federal Government is bringing forward amendments to legislation which seeks to expand the eligibility criteria for euthanasia and assisted suicide. The CCCB, along with forty-nine other Religious Leaders have sent a letter opposing the changes. The link to that letter can be found on the CCCB website at https://www.cccb.ca//we-can-and-must-do-much-better-relig/ Info...rmation Page BILL C-7 - An Act to amend the Criminal Code Expansion of eligibility criteria for physician-assisted dying Worrisome! Because: - People may have recourse to medical assistance in dying even when natural death is not reasonably foreseeable - A person may waive their final consent when natural death is reasonably foreseeable, putting them in a vulnerable position Disturbing! Because: - a questionable, biased, and rushed online survey underlies this Bill - it shows a systematic discarding of different points of view Let us Affirm! - The inalienable right to life which cannot be taken away by others - The importance of compassion for the sick and dying - Our responsibility to protect the most vulnerable among us - The possibility of relieving pain and suffering without resorting to murder Let us Demand! - A public, transparent process open to a wide variety of voices - A taking into account of inviolable moral and ethical principles - To be heard! Let Us Act! - Be sure your member of parliament (MP) hears your opinion! - Send an e-mail, letter, or use the electronic form here: https://www.canadiansforconscience.ca/ We must act now to protect all persons, including future generations from Bill C-7 We also have an information page on the Diocesan website which you may wish to link to your website to provide information on this most important subject. https://hamiltondiocese.com//family-min/bill-c7-euthanasia

Feast Day Novena Prayer for Peace (This prayer is used by the Carmelites during the Feast Day Novena) St. Therese, Flower of fervor and love, please intercede for us. Fill our hearts with your pure love of God.... As we approach and celebrate your feast day, make us more aware of the goodness of God and how well He tends His garden. Instill in us your little way of doing ordinary things with extra-ordinary love. Give us the heart of a child who wonders at life and embraces everything with loving enthusiasm. Teach us your delight in God's ways so that divine charity may blossom in our hearts. Little Flower of Jesus, bring our petitions (mention in silence here) before God, our Father. With your confidence, we come before Jesus as God's children, because you are our heavenly friend. As we celebrate the Feast Day of your homecoming in heaven, continue to shower roses and grace upon us. Amen

From the latest Heart to Heart from Bishop Crosby: "THE 106TH WORLD DAY OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES will be celebrated this Sunday, September 27th. This year’s the...me is Forced Like Jesus Christ To Flee! Pope Francis encourages us to reflect on the community of internally displaced peoples across the globe those who have been forcibly displaced within the borders of their country of citizenship. At the end of 2019, the UN Refugee Agency reported that an astonishing 45.7 million people were internally displaced due to armed conflict, generalized violence or human rights violations. It is noteworthy that this number is larger than the world’s refugee population those who have been forced to cross an international border in search of protection. While COVID-19 has undermined the ability of the Diocese of Hamilton to host our Annual Multicultural Mass this year, we encourage everyone to call to mind this important day in your prayers!" Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Living Rosary Our Lady of Lourdes Small Faith Group invites you to join its members in praying the living rosary for the needs of the parish and the community. For the month of October, we are praying for our scientific and medical community. May God, the Lord of Wisdom, give them knowledge and wisdom so that they may have a better understanding of the disease mechanism and may develop medical breakthroughs to counter the effects of the Coronaviru...s in our lives. In addition, we will keep in our prayers the Pope’s monthly intention-The Laity’s Mission in the Church, the sick and their caregivers, and the living and deceased members of our parish. By volunteering, you will be responsible to say one decade of the mystery of the Rosary every day for the coming month. If you are interested, please sign-up here. You’re invited! Since May this year, members of the small faith group have been meeting online. The group is currently meeting twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
