Our very own head instructor Angelina graduating to her 2nd Dan black belt. Instructor Angelina is a prime example of someone who got out of her comfort zone, becoming comfortable about being uncomfortable to reach new heights. She started out at OMAC Burlington as an administrator for 5 years without any martial arts experience. She watched over the years the impact that martial arts had on all our students so she decided to put the uniform on and get her hands or feet dirty and started training. Now she is our head instructor at Neyagawa and a 2nd Dan black belt. We are so proud and grateful to have her on our team. Congratulations on leading by example!

To conquer your goals during the most unpredictable times defines who you are! These individuals and their resilience will no doubt translate into success in everything they do in life. A huge congrats to OMAC Neyagawa and Trafalgar for achieving their black belts this weekend. We at OMAC are astoundingly proud of all of you and are incredibly grateful our families never gave up on us! Looking forward to sharing many more experiences as black belt is just the very first chapter of a whole new journey.

#ThrowforwardThursdays, because black belts don’t look back, we push forward! Congrats and courageous kudos to Mr Alireza (father of 2, 4th Dan graduate) and Mrs Pascale (mother of 2, 2nd Dan graduate). Mr Alizera Was a black belt, 3rd Dan, from his home country and stopped martial arts for 15 yrs. His son joined OMAC so he decided to lead by example and train alongside with his son, not knowing what his capabilities were after such a hiatus. Obviously when watching his pe...rformance it’s at a master standard level! Mrs Pasquale on her 1st Dan OMAC testing was 6 months pregnant and was unable to break her 1 brick break. Watch how she redeemed herself with 2 bricks this testing! The expression on her face is priceless and what makes our coaches so fulfilled. Unbelievable how both these amazing students threw themselves out of the matrix of the everyday and into the abyss of the unknown like these unprecedented times and still conquered all fears and their goals! The greatest coaches in the world, in pro sports, were never the best players. At OMAC we try to change that paradigm where all our coaches are not only just verbally amazing motivators and inspiration to our students, but also lead by proactive action. Here’s a taste of our OMAC coaches that will be teaching and serving our students!

Our 1st EVER OMAC Burloak Black belt Testing! What a huge milestone event in our OMAC 50 year history. This grading is a special memorable experience for this reason: Last year September we launched our brand new OMAC school. So much time and effort was needed to build this beautiful OMAC that we were so proud of, then 6 months later covid hit! Just like all small businesses in the community, let alone new start up businesses, covid impacted tremendously. As a result of havin...g the support of the best families and students in the world, we are still standing OMAC strong. We are so grateful and blessed to be able to keep our doors open so our coaches can still teach and care for their students which is what they are most passionate about. Remember the best way to combat FEAR (Forget Everything and Run) is overwhelming genuine gratitude with everything you have in life A massive Congrats to all our incredible black belt graduates that made us extremely proud. We sincerely internally appreciate everyone for continuing to battle by OMAC’s side while we fight this War vs this pandemic. We will reign supreme and rise above (the black belt mentality)! This true authentic story of the birth of OMAC: Grand Master Kim (9th Dan level black belt-highest in Canada) came to Canada approx 50 years ago with a dream to spread the benefits of TAEKWONDO. We are proud to say that he is one of the pioneers in all of Canada. Grand Master Kim opened his very first location in 1985. During that time Master Harrison (OMAC CEO) was a non-confident, non-coordinated, non-believer in oneself, 6 year old child. He was at the park one day and go...t bullied by a bigger child. He went home crying to his mother (Mrs Kim) and she went back with him to the park together. Mrs Kim told the bully You stay put because I want my son to hit you back! Unfortunately Master Harrison’s attempt to retaliate vs the bully was a complete failure as the bully blocked all his weak strikes. From that day on, Mrs Kim wanted him to be able to protect himself and sent him directly to Master Kim’s school. From the teachings of Grand Master, he was never bullied in his life ever again. Fast forward to 2002, a unique situation happened where Master becomes father of student. Both Grand Master Kim and Mrs Kim fell in love and Grand Master became the father of Master Harrison. Father and son then decided to team up together and now 6 schools later, we are standing here during the most unorthodox time in history. Due to the severity of covid and the ages of Grand Master and Mrs Kim, they have decided to retire from the operations of the schools which was the hardest but correct decision at this stage in their lives. Many small businesses have also been impacted tremendously. There have been many horror stories of families being laid off and unemployed due to the closure or struggles of many local. OMAC is incredibly blessed to say that we were able to keep ALL our Masters/instructors employed with not just a job they are passionate about, but their livelihood and careers. So on behalf of our OMAC team, all we wanted to say is THANK YOU to all our families because we couldn’t have done this without you. Bianca has been with OMAC for almost 8 years now starting at the age of 4.5 yrs old To show discipline and commitment in something you are so passionate about, never giving up (not even during a pandemic) is something to be revered about. Kudos Bianca for being a great example to other students. Our future generation of leaders, learning about resiliency and tackling adversity, especially during these unique times, is the key elements in creating winners in life. To see our students grow with us over the years, developing into confident, strong mental and physical individuals is what makes all our coaches proud and fulfilled.
