To all my family, friends and Cajeta fans - MUCHAS GRACIAS!! THANK YOU! for all your support throughout these years, it truly has been a remarkable adventure! I'm forever grateful for all of you who've tried and enjoyed OMG Cajetas; for all of you who supported something that started as a dream of sharing a business with my dear friend Veronica almost 5 years ago! I'm grateful for the support of friends, like Pattie, who lent us unconditional support and volunteered for hour...s with us. Grateful for our families - My Dad, Arturo, who tirelessly worked in the kitchen for long hours, in every step of the production - to my Mom, Maria-Luisa for helping me at numerous markets, Veronica's Mom - Graciela, for helping out at the markets whenever she came to visit from Puerto Vallarta, my Brother, Cesar - for taking care of markets, even while on his days off! My sister, for all her support, even my niece Lara who helped me at some markets, gladly giving out samples of Cajeta! (love her!) And of course - my lovely husband Miguel, for aaaaallll his support!! I literally couldn't have done it without him!! As you can see, this has been a business supported by the love of our family and friends. Even though it's been two years since Veronica stepped down from the company to be ready for the birth of her adorable baby boy, Brian, I was lucky to have them both visit me at some of the Farmer's markets! And a BIG THANK YOU to my dear cousin Barbs for designing the beautiful labels, capturing the essence of our flavour, our culture, and our colour - "Rosa Mexicano". And to all the farmers markets across the Lower Mainland - Gracias! From Ladner, to Squamish, White Rock to Fort Langley, Main Street to Port Moody, and everywhere in between - THANK YOU for the wonderful opportunity to introduce Cajeta to the local consumers! The seasonal craft markets, like Make it! or Whistler Christmas market, proved to be a wonderful platform to reach our customers and have Cajeta become a family favourite during the holidays. Also - the locally owned, specialty retailers who took in our Cajetas, we were always proud to see our jars on your shelves! Thank you! if you've made it down to this part of the post, I'll share with you now the reason for this moment of gratitude - I've decided to suspend the production of Cajeta for this moment due to a number of factors. I want to be able to continue to produce it with high quality ingredients and with the same production standards that I've followed all this time, without impacting the price to the point of making it inaccessible to our customers. But, fear not! You can still find Cajeta at the following retailers: South China Seas, Pamola Bakery & Deli, Fresh is Best on Broadway, and on line, through FoodiePages. (supplies are limited!) While this is not in any way a permanent closure, it is the best possible solution at this moment when I need to step back and refocus, in order to better grow my business. GRACIAS! See more

The BC Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier annually grants scholarships to women in our industry. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, ability, commitment and passion, and may range in value between $300 and $2000 depending on funds available, program requirements and approved applicants. Each application is reviewed and evaluated by the scholarship committee composed of Les Dames volunteer members. Applications are accepted October 1st through January 31st each year and are awarded in Marchhttp://www.lesdames.ca/scholarship-program/. Applicants must be B.C. residents. The BC Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier also works with other organizations to provide additional scholarship opportunities including Barry Callebaut’s Chocolate Academy, Pastry Training Centre of Vancouver, Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver, Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, and a new scholarship for 2017 from Two Rivers Specialty Meats in honour of Chef Tina Fineza.
