This!! did you know the 'socializing' protocols which we all know and many follow are OVER 30 years old? So many problems and issues from it. Does this mean your dog/pup shouldn't have friends, of course not. They just don't have to meet every person and dog out there, which btw destroys your loose leash walking and teachings your pup/dog to pull unless you are very skilled and careful. https://www.collared-scholar.com/more-harm-than-good-3-rea/

Someone from the new Obedience class starting this Thursday at 7:30 pm has had to drop out with 2 dogs (they thought we were in Port Colbourne), therefore there is now room. Contact Hyacinthe 613-475-3129 or contact us through the website if you are interested.

There's nothing "pretty" about the sit pretty trick we teach our dogs! For years, this exercise was encouraged by fitness trainers for its benefit to the core ...but more and more we're urging owners to avoid sit pretty. This is because this exercise can cause injury and there are better, safer exercises that can help the core. Remember, exercises should be functional and mimic movements that a dog would normally perform. The sit pretty does not meet the criteria and in my opinion, can cause more harm than good! They are many more exercises to choose from! Can you think of another non-functional exercise that our dogs should avoid?

We examine the body language leading up to a scuffle in the dog park, after a young, awkward shepherd puppy pushes her play mate too far. Stay tuned for more body language breakdowns coming soon!

I get asked all the time of when we should start agility training with puppies. Always a great deal of foundations/flatwork etc. Here is a great video with several of our Top Agility Trainers from around the world and their opinions on this. I have had the privilege of training in person with 2 of these people in the video, one of them twice and the other one once :) Can you guess who? https://www.youtube.com/watch
