Still undecided? Why you should chose ONA! ONA began preparations for this vote long before the merger of Ajax hospital with Lakeridge Health. Preparations began in December 2000 when our small group of Respiratory Therapists and Social Workers joined ONA.... From day one, ONA has worked hard to achieve the same for our bargaining unit of 120 Respiratory Therapists and Social Workers as has been achieved for 50,000 Nurses across the province. Our first collective agreement resulted in some salary scales 12.6-12.7% above OPSEU rates and some benefits that far exceeded provincial standards. Fast forward 14 years to 2014 - the ONA Lakeridge Health collective agreement for the Respiratory Therapists/Social Workers is now equivalent to the central (provincial) agreement for Nurses this is an incredible achievement! Please have a look at the contract comparison. A recent agreement, that expires March 31, 2019, still has the OPSEU Pinewood Addictions Counsellors receiving less than the OPSEU central agreement. When everyone else was receiving 1.4% wage increases, OPSEU’s Pinewood bargaining unit received 0.8% and 1.2%. Dietitians and Pharmacy Technicians have been looking to be reclassified on the wage grid. Research on the OPSEU website shows this has been an ongoing unresolved issue since before 2005. The facts continue to demonstrate that ONA is the union that fights equally and successfully for the little guy. Take this a step further and note that ONA has been able to achieve more for our bargaining unit of 120 members then OPSEU has achieved for 11,000 members across the province. ONA is the union we need to have negotiating the first collective agreement for the bargaining unit formed because of the merger. Vote ONA and join a well respected yet powerful union!
