HEALING ON A CELLULAR LEVEL Nicole had the pleasure of chatting with Michelle Wolfe from @muvelife Tune into your favourite podcast app, find the Muve Forward podcast, and have a listen! I chat my about severe head trauma experiences, my healing process and how it shaped me into the practitioner I am today. I believe it is important that when we treat dis-ease, your practitioner understands that it’s important to start by treating energy and somatic dysfunction in the body ...- not the disease itself; this is how you create permanent shifts. A positivity movement isn’t necessarily what we need, we need people to practice more forms of self-care. Suffering and pain change our brain. The more curious we are about what's happening in our bodies, the less we fear, and the more willing and able we are to invest into our healing. My general advice is try to be an intuitive human being and cherish your gut instincts. If you go easy in life, life will go easy on you.

{IN} FLEXIBILITY as we all adjust to new ways of life, we are being met with many different challenges. Some of us can quickly adjust to new routines and some of us struggle with even the basics of what we feel we should be able to accomplish. This doesn’t make you less productive, or mean you serve less of a purpose right now. Certain centres of the brain, like the anterior cingulate gyrus (ACG), are responsible for how flexible or inflexible we are during change. This c...an directly affect our joy, happiness and relationships, especially if we’ve experienced head and unresolved emotional trauma. Do not compare yourself to your friends! Simple ways to improve cognitive flexibility: 1. Add saffron to meals, eat omega-3 fatty acids and sweet potatoes 2. Go for a 20 minute walk 3. Stop looping thought patterns in their tracks 4. Play your favourite tunes However you are adjusting, your story during this pandemic is unique and valid. On the days when you’re struggling, it’s ok to blame physiology for it!

LONELINESS studies done on loneliness are surfacing right now and we’ve learned some interesting things. One of the most interesting concepts is that loneliness can trigger the same biochemical responses that being hungry or thirsty causes. This means that when we feel lonely, we want to seek out others to help fill our void. There is really nothing in the world that can take the place of human touch and love. Chronic loneliness can have similar stress impacts on the body t...hat malnutrition or cigarette smoking can have. And maybe this is one of the reasons why people are feeling extreme voids after eight weeks of physical distancing measures. It’s not that shy or introverted people need any less connection with humans, we just all accept human interaction differently. Reminder for today: loneliness is not only a state of mind, but more of a physiological, innate urge to feel connection.

Nicole, Lisa and Kimberly are eager to get back into the clinic to offer their services. PRODUCTIVE living through a pandemic can bring up many underlying brain health concerns. While social media is bombarding us with productivity lists, tips on how to keep busy, and baking/movement challenges, it’s important to realize what might be triggering for you at this time and reduce your exposure if you can. For some, baking or cooking might bring to surface disordered eating habits. Forced movement and exercise could prompt a pain response in the body, resurfacing... past injury and post traumatic stress. Cleaning and organizing a home can enhance an obsessive-compulsive pattern. You have the power to choose what the word productive means to you, because our previous emphasis on this word and glorification of it’s concept is completely different from what our new realities are. With our previous resources being limited, and our world becoming smaller everyday, recognizing that even though we might feel grateful for having certain things, this doesn’t immunize us from feeling deeper emotional trauma. Global suffering and empathy can spark brain health issues we aren’t equipped to deal with. Call your medical doctor for a list of resources in your community. Due to the pandemic, there are free counselling services through a number of institutions and therapists also offering secured online appointments. Be gentle with yourself.

It has anti-inflammatory effects and soothes the nervous system. In a time where we are all looking to stay safe and healthy from a novel virus, being open to multiple modalities of wellness can make us feel slightly more balanced.... Of course, crystal healing is not a substitute for medical intervention, but a different way of connecting with our bodies and the magical planet we inhabit.

But once we start to move slower and begin to integrate away from the busy patterns we’ve c...reated for ourselves in the past, a shift happens in our nervous system. Our internal and external environment needs to be conducive to create good vibes.... Here are some tips to help! 1. Keep a stone like SMOKY QUARTZ near the technology in your house and by your bed to protect against radiation. It also neutralizes energy. 2. Avoid a FIGHT OR FLIGHT reaction to things that aren’t requiring you to fight or fly. Deep breaths soothe the nervous system and brain and help manage blood pressure. 3. Using a gua sha tool or jade roller with very light pressure in the downward direction of your neck, can help to stimulate the lymph function of the face. 2. Using your fingers or a tool, applying deeper pressure along the cheeks, forehead and neck muscles can relieve muscular and jaw tension.... 3. THE NECK due to the mobile nature of the cervical spine, there is room for vulnerability. Made up of 7 spinal segments and the shelf for the cranium, our cervical spine is one of the most important set of structures in our body. Many of our cranial nerves exit the areas around the base of our skull. The spinal cord begins at the 2nd cervical vertebrae. It is common for newborns to have condylar compression, affecting suckling or sleep.... We are also more susceptible to osteoarthritis in the cervical spine due to something called the Lushka joints. It’s easy to see why an osteopathic manual practitioner or massage therapist would spend a lot of time in this area to release muscular tension and improve the function of each vertebral segment and surrounding structures.
