Are you forced to ride public transit to get to work? Is the news true? Are busses congested and unsafe? #SocialDistancing

Torontonian Reiner Guinasao shared these beautiful photos from a very quiet Sheppard West Station last week. Even though DWAs and escalators across Toronto are quiet right now, remember, Guards, Operators and thousands of other transit employees continue to risk their health every day to keep Toronto moving. Give them a wave and a nod (from a safe distance) if you ride #TorontoTransit today.... #OnGuardForYou

The city is a quiet place. Trains, busses, roads and parks are all the calmest they’ve ever been. Stay healthy. Happy hand-washing. #OnGuardForYou... (Picture by Randy Hoffmann circa early January)

Happy Transit Driver Appreciation Day! Did you know the Subway Guard switches roles with the Operator when the train switches directions? That’s right, the Operator and Guard are one in the same!... #ThankYou

There’s a lot to be afraid of in the world right now. We don’t mean to add to it, but we do want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of continuing to stay alert, especially when taking public transit alone. Fewer riders on transit, means fewer people to support you if you feel threatened. Thankfully, the #SubwayGuards remain on board at the back of the train. They can access the security cameras and will be there when you call.... If you feel unsafe or uneasy, sit near them in the furthest back car of the train. #StaySafe Photo by @5151.photography (Instagram)

The city is not what it once was. Today it’s full of fear, disloyalty, mistrust. It’s a scary time to be a #Torontonian.... But we will come back from this. We always do. Photo credit: Toronto Star Archives

Yesterday trains bypassed St. George Station due to overcrowding. Even in these times of social distancing our transit system can’t sufficiently support #TO. When systems are this dysfunctional we need MORE staff on the ground to keep riders safe; not less.
