Staff at the Onoway Regional Medical Clinic will be working staggered days to limit traffic to the clinic. Additionally, the clinic's physicians will be available for scheduled client consultations via telephone. Please ensure as a patient, you call the clinic FIRST to allow staff and doctors to determine the nature of your visit. You will then be advised what the next step should be; whether a phone call will suffice or a visit to the clinic is necessary. For phone consultations, please indicate a time window you'll be available. A physician will then initiate the consultation by calling you back as close to your scheduled time slot as possible. Please do not visit the Onoway Regional Medical Clinic in person unless instructed to do so.
Onoway Regional Medical Clinic has undertaken an expansion and renovation of its facility. The dual purposes of this project are to enhance the capacity of the clinic to service regional communities; and to accommodate an additional doctor. Work is now underway on the end unit of the building. When complete, both spaces will be combined to operate as a new and enhanced medical facility with ample space for clients and staff. Demolition of the office space adjacent to the clin...ic is scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 17, 2020. The project is slated for completion in the Summer of 2020. Disruptions to regular clinic operations are not foreseen; however, parking will be limited at the South end of the parking lot during the first two weeks of demolition. Clients, staff and area businesses are thanked in advance for their patience and understanding. Any details or substantive updates regarding this project will be posted via this Facebook page and at www.onowaymedical.ca as they become available.
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE RATEPAYERS OF LAC STE. ANNE COUNTY Several weeks ago, Lac Ste. Anne County communicated its intentions to facilitate the expansion of Onoway Regional Medical Clinic. Since then, questions have arisen in the community regarding the feasibility of certain parts of this plan. The County has drafted an open letter to its ratepayers; not to address each question that has been raised, but to underscore the County’s key reasons why this is a good news story for... the entire Lac Ste. Anne region. To read this letter in its entirety, please visit www.onowaymedical.ca. Onoway Regional Medical Clinic is poised to grow, and the County is in a position to help facilitate smart, sustainable growth. In doing so, the County will ensure that Onoway Regional Medical Clinic will continue to meet the needs of residents in increasingly diverse and meaningful ways.
www.onowaymedical.ca ONOWAY REGIONAL MEDICAL CLINIC IS UNDERGOING SOME EXCITING CHANGES With the departure of Dr. Winterbach earlier this year, we are focused on recruiting a new third physician. Additionally, we’re interested in working with a Primary Care Network to bring the services of nurses, dietitians, therapists, and other specialized medical resources to the community. Although the ORMC Board and partner municipalities are all supportive of adding these services, the... current clinic space limits our ability to house and support these additional services. The ORMC Board has made an official request to its municipal shareholders to support its efforts to improve the variety of services available in the region and help it find a new larger location for the clinic. Regardless of the outcome of our request for additional clinic space, we will begin to work through the process of incorporating as a Municipally Controlled Corporation. This process will complete the efforts of our municipal partners to ensure the sustainable and independent operation of Onoway Regional Medical Clinic without a dependence upon municipal subsidies to survive. For more information about Onoway Regional Medical Clinic's plans for expansion, please visit www.onowaymedical.ca.
STAY COOL AND HYDRATED THIS SUMMER Heat-related emergencies like heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke are caused by increased body temperature when dehydration or other factors interfere with your body's natural cooling processes. To Prevent Heat-Related Emergencies:... Drink plenty of cool fluids this is the most important step you can take. Avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day. Know the humidex rating it combines the temperature and humidity to indicate how hot, humid weather feels to the average person. Wear light, loose clothing to let air circulate and heat escape and always wear a hat. Apply sunscreen (with SPF 15 or higher) as sunburned skin reduces the body’s ability to cool itself. Slow down your activities as it gets hotter and don’t work, exercise, or play for too long at a time. Take a lot of breaks in a cool or shady area to let your body cool off. This will help if you do need to be outside when it’s really hot.
