Five Teens Arrested in Murder Case By Ron Fanfair Five individuals, including four young persons, have been arrested in connection with a young man's murder.... On Saturday, January 22, 2022, at approximately 12:40 a.m., officers responded to a call for a shooting at 2 Ingram Drive. Officers were directed to a parking lot outside a fast food restaurant where they found a man in a car suffering injuries who had been shot. Officers commenced life saving measures on the victim who succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. He was identified as Malachi Elijah Bainbridge, 19, of Toronto. At a media conference on February 10, Detective- Sergeant Ted Lioumanis, of the Homicide Unit, said the deceased had a pre-arranged meeting at the location. As Mr. Bainbridge pulled into this address, he was immediately ambushed and shot multiple times while he was in his vehicle, he said. The suspect vehicle, described as a Honda Accord, was last seen northbound on Keele. St. Nearly four hours later, the vehicle was located engulfed in flames in Clarington. I can tell you this investigation is still ongoing, but through intense video canvas and review and witness statements, five individuals have been arrested, said Lioumanis. A 16-year-old male from Oshawa has been charged with first-degree murder, another 16-year-old Oshawa male, who was in possession of four firearms when he was arrested, faces accessory after the fact murder, 16 firearms-related charges and one charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking and a 15-year-old female and a 14-year-old male face accessory after the fact murder charges. The female was also charged with firearms-related offences and possession for the purpose of trafficking. None of these accused can be identified because of their age. Tyler Willian, 19, was charged with accessory after the fact. A total of five search warrants were executed in Oshawa. Four semi-automatic handguns, an assault rifle, two vehicles and a quantity of drugs were seized. This investigation was fluid and had a lot of moving components to it, said Lioumanis. Investigations like this are successful because of the great collaboration and communication between law enforcement agencies. The Durham and Peterborough Police Services along with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Centre of Forensic Science assisted with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or online at 222tips.com.

An Edmonton man who police say has a history of involvement with youth groups has been charged with possession of child pornography. David McDowell, 69, was ar...rested and charged in January, according to police who say he was previously a volunteer youth coordinator for an Edmonton-based medieval recreation and culture group. His arrest followed an investigation by an internet child exploitation unit from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams that began in December of 2021 following a tip. The sheer volume, and the content of child sexual exploitation materials seized is quite disturbing, even to our most experienced investigators. Our primary concern is identifying potential victims, and providing the supports and resources they need, said Insp. John Respet. Investigators say a full analysis will take months, but that forensic technician estimate there is hundreds of thousands of child sexual abuse materials located on the suspect’s computers and electronic devices. Police say given McDowell’s past involvement with youth, they are concerned there could be more child victims in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Edmonton Police or Crime Stoppers. https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/youth-coordinator-for-edmonton-
