About 280 cows and 90 fats sold today in Cookstown! One Holstein bull weighed in at 3,160lbs!!! Beef cows traded at steady to stronger prices with bulls and dairy cows trading just steady! Fats also traded on a steady market!

1100 sheep, lamb and goats traded today in Cookstown! Goats sold exceptionally strong with lots of kids trading well over the $400.00cwt mark! Sheep traded easier then last weeks extreme highs but steady to the week prior and lambs were fully steady!

We always want to make sure that producers have the information and tools they need to succeed! Earlier this fall we started batch reading RFID tags on cattle and attaching those tag numbers to each sale! This gives producers the ability to track each calf through the sale, and monitor the profitability of each cow/calf pair individually! Buyers also receive this tag information on their invoices! This way they can use the data to track the profitability of each animal indivi...dually in their yards as well! We are not currently set up to efficiently batch read sheep/lamb tags but that is something we will be working on going forward! We still wand read for ATQ sheep/lambs!
