Congratulations Ming Wong on receiving this year's Virginia and Myrtle Cooper Award in Costume Design! The award is given annually to a professional costume designer in Ontario in mid-career to further enrich their career through research and travel. Ming is incredibly excited for the time when travel is safe and can put this award to good use! Message from Minister Lisa MacLeod Friends, It’s a tough day in Ontario as we announce added restrictions to help stop the spread of COVID-19, but I’m pleased that our hard work to establish early public health and safety standards for heritage, sport, tourism and culture industries mean many sectors can continue to operate.... Film, television, and post-production work can continue in lock down so long as workplace safety standards are maintained. Restaurants can continue to provide take out, drive-through and delivery services, including the sale of alcohol. High performance, parasport athletes and professional sports leagues can continue their training. Event spaces can operate to provide court, government, mental health and addiction support services. Drive-in cinemas and rehearsal for performing a recorded or broadcast event can continue. Our government is providing $600 million in property tax and energy bill rebates to support impacted eligible businesses, including gyms, facilities for indoor sport and recreational fitness activities, performing arts and cinemas, racing venues, and more. I encourage you to learn more about how today's announcement applies to your public health region and business by visiting - https://www.ontario.ca//covid-19-response-framework-keepin My team and I continue to make ourselves available if you have questions by emailing [email protected]. Kind regards, Honourable Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries
