In Canada, cattle are typically raised on marginal lands and soils that can't be used to grow other crops. 70% of Canada's native grasslands have been cultivated or developed, with only 30% left. As cattle are the main users of these grasslands they are helping to preserve these fragile natural ecosystems by enhancing soil carbon storage, biodiversity, wildlife habitat and migration, water filtration, and nutrient recycling.
