It is not enough to just play the notes, or sing the words, or hear the song. For it to mean something you have to feel the Music . Because if you don’t feel it... How can anyone else?

Music is a higher revelation than philosophy Ludwig van Beethoven 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven! #OntarioPops

Ontario Pops Orchestra 05.08.2020

Ludwig Van Beethoven Interesting fact: No one really knows Beethoven’s birth date. There is not accurate record for Beethoven’s birth. It is assumed that he was born the day before his baptism, however, it might have been a few days before. On December 17th we celetrabrate his birthday, but it was actually the day of his baptism.... #ontariopopsorchestra

This week we are featuring tango dancer Linda Smith, originally scheduled to perform at OPO’s Spanish Flair concert, and seen in our May 4th OPO collaborative video post. What Linda enjoys the most about being a dancer is expressing the music through movement. She says: It is always such a beautiful experience to dance to live music, something we don’t get to experience that often in the tango world. She is inspired by all of her tango teachers, but also by her students, wh...o have come to learn to dance, some of them having never danced before! If you love to dance and can even give an hour a week to it, you will have the chance to improve, not only your dancing, but your state of mind, and your sense of well being. If you can’t take a dance class, then put on music you love and dance in your living room! Dancing is very good for you. -LS See more

This week we are featuring OPO violinist Veronica Zupanic! The main thing she enjoys about OPO is playing alongside her great colleagues in the orchestra. Veronica’s favourite music to play is solo Bach, and she is inspired by her teacher, Yehonatan Berick. She says: He has been a very important influence for me, and his devotion to teaching and passing on music is very inspiring. During the current situation, Veronica has kept busy teaching and practising. I've been luck...y enough to continue teaching violin and piano through Google hangouts with the Lippert Music Centre. I've also been learning new violin repertoire, specifically Bach's B minor partita and Ysaye's fifth solo sonata. - VZ. In her spare time, Veronica loves to read, and is currently reading Hilary Mantel's The Mirror and The Light. Veronica says: My favourite thing about being a musician and a violinist specifically is that it's this lifelong quest, the idea that you're always trying to get better over time. The constant desire to improve is what makes our profession really special!
