Little RES Q that focuses on rescuing red eared sliders is securing a pond so that they may be able to help more turtles. If you can help out, I'm sure they'd really appreciate it. Both of us are at maximum capacity for aquatic turtles because of their long life and difficulty to rehome.

Hello everyone, A few new animals have been added to the adoptions page on our website, 2 bearded dragons and 2 geckos. We are getting busier and busier with each passing day. Next Saturday we will be unavailable as the Timmin's Humane Society has asked us to take their reptiles and we will be going for a road trip up there. I have decided to add a page to our website showcasing our long-term guests as well as those with medical problems that are being treated. ... About 75% of the animals we receive require medical care and some have long-term problems. Many animals surrendered to us required daily syringe or hand feeding. The adoption fees for our healthy adoptable animals go towards helping these neglected ones. Please note we are still at maximum capacity for aquatic turtles and our waiting-list is currently about 6 months long. https://www.ontarioreptilerescue.ca/sanctuary

Hello all, We are looking for a reliable source of feeders (crickets, waxworms, frozen rats and mice). It will benefit us in having a reliable, slightly cheaper food source, and it will benefit you because we will recommend our clients to use your services. Must be able to fill orders of 12 large frozen rats a week + 6 large frozen mice a week + 100 waxworms + 100 crickets.... Searching for quality over quantity. If you know of anyone, or are someone who can provide feeders, please shoot us a message with your pricing :) Thank you.

The following images may be shocking. I hope that they provide important information and shed some light on the importance of proper husbandry and responsible care of reptiles. Sadly most of the leopard geckos we receive remain in our permanent long-term care. Almost all of which came from PetsMart and similar stores. The staff push leopard geckos as a starter pet for young children which results in many being unintentionally neglected. Reptiles require very specific diets, h...umidity, temperature, supplementation, and a whole gambit of things. Reptiles are fantastic additions to any household, but please do your research and ensure it is the right fit for you and your family. Since January of this year we have received 12 leopard geckos, only 4 of which were healthy and able to be re-homed. 8 of them remain in our long-term care and require hand-feeding and daily care. The following information and images are from a gecko we received this weekend with a severe case of metabolic bone disease. I cry every time I see him so please do not look if it will upset you. I've named this sweet boy "Will" because despite being disfigured since a young age, he is very strong-willed and he is a fighter. Will's front limbs are horribly disfigured from metabolic bone disease, his toes are barely formed and missing on one leg completely, and he can only walk using his elbows. Will's case of MBD is severe, the condition cannot be reversed but the progression can be stopped. I hope he is not in pain. He is still quite active and loves a good snuggle. His treatment plan includes a varied diet of gut-loaded insects every other day. We will alternate feedings between a calcium supplement, a calcium supplement with D3, and a vitamin supplement. He will also be receiving calcium injections from the vet to give him a boost and a fighting chance. You can read more about metabolic bone disease, its causes, prevention, and treatment options here on our website. https://www.ontarioreptilerescue.ca/metabolicbonedisease
