Who needs Fall Arrest Protection Training? The answer is anyone working in an environment where heights are involved or falls can occur. Do security guards need Fall Arrest Protection Training?... According to the US Department of Labor, falls account for 8% of all work-related trauma injuries leading to death. If you are working in an environment where there is potential for fall related injuries then Fall Arrest Protection training can be the difference between life and death. This course is also required by many industries in order to comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations in Canada. Security guards are often deployed to guard the following industries which require some level of fall protection: Construction sites Warehouses and Manufacturing sites Industrial Retail Airline Hospitality Having proper Fall Arrest Protection gives you the necessary tools to keep yourself and other workers safe. Some employers require Fall Arrest Protection training in addition to your Ontario security guard license for security work. When is Fall Arrest Protection online training necessary? If you work in security or are looking for a security guard job in Ontario having additional safety training is attractive to employers and a requirement in many industries. NOTE: Ontario Fall Arrest Training Standards changed in April, 2015 stating that Fall Arrest Protection Training is to take place in a classroom setting by a certified provider, allowing a two-year implementation period for workers to receive their training. Though online certificates are still accepted by some employers, additional hands-on training may be required. As Covid-19 has affected in person training in many areas, online training may still be necessary in the interim. Please check with the Ministry of Labour for up-to-date health and safety training requirements.

Alberta Security Guard License Exam Process We are often asked how to book the Alberta Security License Exam as there are a few steps. Below is a simple guide to our process: ABST Exam Booking Procedure... Step 1: Complete the required 40 hours of online study. The timer must reflect a minimum of 40 hours logged time. You can log more than 40 hours if you wish. Step 2: Notify us by email [email protected] that you have completed the 40 hours and include this information: FIRST NAME: MIDDLE NAME(S): LAST NAME: DOB: YEAR/MONTH/DAY: GENDER: FULL STREET ADDRESS: CITY: POSTAL CODE: Step 3: We will email you your Certificate of Completion and a list of local exam proctors. You will contact these proctors and arrange an exam date. You will email us which proctor you have set your exam with and the date/time of the exam. ***THIS EMAIL TO US MUST BE 5 BUSINESS DAYS(MON-FRI) PRIOR TO THE EXAM DATE.*** Step 4: We will notify Alberta Justice, the Proctor and you that your exam booking is approved. Step 5: Attend your exam. We will email you your result within 7 days. Exam Booking Cancellation Policy 1. In order to cancel a scheduled exam, the student must contact us by email ( [email protected] ) and provide notice. Telephone, voicemail or text messaging notice do not qualify. 2. If the emailed cancellation notice by student is received less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled exam, a $25.00 administrative charge will be billed to the student. This fee must be paid by the student prior to us rebooking an exam. 3. To re-book an exam, the student must repeat Steps 3 - 5 outlined above in the ABST exam booking procedure.
