#FunFactFriday 3375 tomatoes are served by our galley staff during our 5.5 month cruising season.
After moving through the consequences of suspending our 2020 operating season due to COVID-19 we are now sitting in the drivers seat gearing up and planning for our 2021 season! The ship is in dry dock and we are already starting our preparations for our first day of cruising on May 16, 2021!! We have ordered additional HVAC equipment with UVC treatment to address best practices for internal air treatment and exchange. We are also working with our many levels of government o...n a Return to Cruising procedure which will no doubt evolve through the winter months as we continue to learn more about safely living and working through these times. Plans are in place to keep Passengers and Crew safe. We are committed to developing and improving our policies and procedures regarding COVID-19 and will continue to refine and update them as appropriate. We are currently 57% booked for 2021 with several cruises already full. We hope you’re staying safe and believe as we do that the green light will come on soon for us all to enjoy our National Parks from the comfort of the Kawartha Voyageur once again. We will be here and waiting to welcome you.
Dear Friends, The Kawartha has safely nestled in for her regular winter nap. She will be well rested for her "resumption of service" in 2021!! The holiday season is always a good time to reflect. In a year that hasn’t always been easy, it’s been important to us that we stand by each other, resilient and strong. On behalf of Ontario Waterway Cruises, we hope you too discover what it means to be united as one immersed in a renewed sense of joy and hope.... Merry Christmas everyone - see you soon! Marc, Robin, John and Joy.
*Covid19 Update* To our entire Kawartha Voyageur Family: We hope that you are finding ways to maintain a positive perspective while adjusting to what has seemed to be an ever-changing reality.... While Ontario is making progress in reducing the COVID infection, any opening of foodservice activity in confined indoor spaces will no doubt be highly regulated and present a multitude of challenges. Given the current emphasis on social distancing and the related adjustments to our operations that are necessary to facilitate the same, we have decided to suspend cruise operations for the remainder of our 2020 season. Obviously, this decision will be disappointing to some and welcomed by others. However, as many of you know, our brand has always been our personal commitment to your health, safety, comfort and enjoyment aboard the Kawartha Voyageur. This pandemic has hit the hospitality and tourism sector hard. Many operators like us view their asset as a second home. We are not ready to have people in our own home nor are we ready to have people on our ship. We are concerned about your safety and trust. We are isolating because we trust each other to do the right thing to move us past this space. We will be taking this time to prepare properly for a return to service in 2021. Stay safe and believe as we do that the green light will come on soon for us all to enjoy our National Parks from the comfort of the Kawartha Voyageur once again. We will be here and waiting to welcome you! Marc and Robin, John and Joy

Fun Fact!: The Kawartha Voyageur’s Rideau Cruise takes you though the most bio-diverse region in Canada! This is the Frontenac Arch UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. It’s an ancient granite land bridge that connects the habitats of Algonquin Park to the Adirondack Mountains. 5 different forest regions connect at the crossroads of the Frontenac Arch and the St. Lawrence River to create a unique ecosystem where many plant, animal, and insect species thrive. We don't mind the rain when it looks like this! Just waiting for the next round to roll through on Canal Lake.
Our pretty little home for the night, Rosedale Lock!

Another beautiful spring day on the Rideau. What a great start to 2018 cruising!
Almost ready for cruising and so is the weather! Looking good Balsam Lake!
Hope you've enjoyed our #ThrowbackThursdays '80's edition. We're about to get very busy with the coming 37th season and leave you with this one of the back in the '80's when Ontario Waterway Cruises was a fleet, before the Trent was re-purposed, then sold and the Kawartha was stretched and modified over the years into the ship we now know and love! Don't worry, there will be more history and old photos to come, but for now, we're off to get to work so we can add some more 2018 photos to the file in our collection!
As you've likely been wondering, where was the Kawartha Voyageur in all of this #ThrowbackThursday business? Well, here she is, freshly emerged from the ship yard, and ready for business!
Another #ThrowbackThursday is here and another '80's photo for you! Drones weren't around when this photo was taken, in 1983. Here's the Trent Voyageur in the Peterborough Lift Lock. Trent-Severn Waterway, look, no Visitor Center...
It is with heavy hearts we close the day. A great family and company friend has passed away this morning. We were proud to call Rick Copeland our friend, advisor and trainer. A long time paramedic, first aid trainer, and a lock tender in years past, whatever the uniform and whether he arrived via ambulance, on his bike, or waving from a bridge on the Rideau he was always welcomed and appreciated as a part of the KV crew. He will be sorely missed. Update for those looking for the arrangements: http://www.mackeys.ca//3/Copeland-Eric/service-details.php
Today, on this #ThrowbackThursday, we are headed to our last Travel Presentation today in Toronto, at the Botanical Gardens for 1:30 pm. Here's a little treat from the Trent, as folks wave from the back of the Tent Voyageur.
Want to know more about the landscapes we explore? Owen Sound, this morning is your chance! Barrie folks, if you want to think about summer for a little while this afternoon, come join us! http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/ #KawarthaVoyageur #OwenSound #Barrie
Today, our presentations right in our back yard (metaphorically). We'll see our friends old and new in Peterborough, and we're in our operations base of Orillia this afternoon. http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/ #Ptbo #Kawarthas #Orillia #SimcoeCounty
Looking for where we're headed first this week in our Travel Presentations? Kingston is our first stop Monday morning and Belleville is our afternoon location! http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/ #ygk #KingstonON #Belleville
This #ThrowbackThursday, we're moving out of the 80's just a little to let you know that you can meet this fellow today in St. Catherines in the morning, and Hamilton this afternoon, or tomorrow, Friday the 23rd in Guelph in the morning, and Orangeville, in the afternoon as our Travel Show circuit continues. http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/ #StCath #HamOnt #Guelph #Orangeville
Next stop! We are visiting Brantford this morning and Burlington this afternoon. Hope to see you there! http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/ #Brantford #Burlington #CruisinginOntario #KawarthaVoyageur
Thank you to those who joined us in Sarnia and London today! The crew is headed off to get ready for shows tomorrow in Stratford and Kitchener. See you in the morning, Stratford! http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/ #Stratford #Kitchener #KawarthaVoyageur
Today begins our travel presentations. We're travelling and talking around the province over the next two weeks. Come and see Marc and the crew if you are in or around Sarnia or London today. #Cruising #KawarthaVoyageur #Sarnia #LdnOnt #SpringIsComing! http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/
#ThrowbackThursday '80's continues. If you saw last week, (then wondered where Holyrood, Ontario was) when you build a ship inland, when you get it to launch day, it needs a little help getting to the water(and yes a lot of curious spectators asking about a guy named Noah).
Next week at this time we will be on the road around Ontario with presentations about the company, cruises, and canals. To find out where we are, when, check here! http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/ Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
We continue our #ThrowBackThursday '80's edition with a picture of the Trent Voyageur emerging from family farm barn on the Ackert Family farm near Holyrood, Ontario. For a wider view of the family farm see our video About Us on our website https://youtu.be/k0f2-XXDCSE
Happy Thursday everyone! For those of you who may not know our history, the company is soon entering its 37th year of operation. Over the next little while, our #ThrowbackThursdays are leaving the 2000's behind. Yes, we're headed for the '80s. Yes, the '80s, Polaroid Pictures, and the original ship, built in a barn by an enterprising family. Meet the vessel the MV Trent Voyageur.
At winter's rest in snowy Kirkfield. Just over a month until we go on the road with our Travel Presentations. See you around the province soon! http://ontariowaterwaycruises.com/travelpresentations/
Today you can find at Georgian College #connect2careers. See you there!
Good to know our friends over at Speaking of Wildlife are looking out for us! We'll try to enjoy the winter while it's still here! Hope everyone had a great Groundhog Day yesterday!
Just 102 days to our season beginning May 13 in case you weren't counting down with us! May warm memories of summer's past keep you all warm until then!
Some times we see only the summer view of a place. Who else is ready for some summer sun and a Kawartha Voyager waiting for us at the dock in Kingston?
Wandering through the vast number of photos our company has amassed over the years and came across this gem. The memories of laughter on both sides of the "stage" never fail us on Crew Night. If you have never seen our crew variety show, well, maybe one day we'll let you in on our secrets.
As we've had a long cold snap at the end of 2017, here's a warm wish for you all, as we look forward to another year of travel with friends new and old in 2018. Have a Happy, and warm New Year!
Happy Holidays to all! Hope you have a wonderful time with family and friends in this magical time of year!
Good Monday morning to you! One last puzzle before the holidays! Name that KV stop. This one is tricky as we do not stay overnight. #TrentOrRideau? Who claims bragging rights this week? Just a reminder, our office is now closed until 2018 but messages will be dealt with within a day or two.
Monday Puzzle time! Claim bragging rights for this week! #TrentorRideau #Brainteaser Happy Monday!
So, since last Monday's photo was identified so quickly, here's one that may be a little harder. Trent or Rideau? And extra bragging rights if you can solve where exactly!
A challenge for you this Monday morning, for bragging rights only. Name that #KawarthaVoyageur stop along the way! Here's a tricky one!
