Message from Mike Miller - OWA President We're getting messages indicating there are pockets of non-compliance regarding masks, social distancing, and sanitization. Please consider Weightlifting, CrossFit, Powerlifting, and Bodybuilding are often grouped together in the media. Gym infractions could have an effect on strength sports across Ontario regardless of their location or field. We must work together in our facilities to remain safe and open. Check https://www.onweightlifting.ca/ for updated resources regarding staying safe during COVID.

On behalf of Larry Sheppard, it is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Doug Marr, a long-time member of the Sudbury Weightlifting Club. He passed away early on Sunday, May 31st at the Health Science North in Sudbury. Doug was 67 years of age and had been battling cancer for more than a year. Doctor Marr, a native of Scotland, was introduced to weightlifting while studying at Glasgow University in the 70's. In the 90's, he took up competing again as a master ...lifter with the Sudbury group. Then for twenty years he became a fixture as an official at contests in Northern Ontario and the annual Blue Mountain Open. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Laurentian University Voyageur Weightlifting Club. He will be missed by many. Our deepest condolences go out to Doug’s family during this difficult time.
