Statement from John Fraser, new interim leader of the Liberal Party of Ontario
Happy Pride! #LoveIsLove
THANK YOU, OAKVILLE NORTH-BURLINGTON! Fellow Liberals, Every four years, the residents of our province have the privilege of electing someone to represent them in our provincial parliament. ... This year, we presented Alvin Tedjo as our candidate, and we are so very proud that we did. While the ultimate outcome might not have been what we wanted, we are thankful for the thousands of people who listened, understood, and agreed with his vision. We are humbled by the many who came out to support him. We are touched by the vast numbers of Liberals in our community who share our vision of a better Ontario. Congratulations to Effie Triantafilopoulos of the Conservative Party who was elected. While we fundamentally disagree with her Party’s position on many issues, we embrace her as a resident and a leader in our community, and truly wish her the very best of luck. On election night, Premier Kathleen Wynne stepped down as leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. I thank her for her committed service to his province and our country. We are awaiting instructions from the Party on next steps, and I will engage all members of the Board to get involved to pick our next leader. I’ll be in touch with all Liberal Party members in this riding about plans for the future, and hope that you too will get involved. Thanks again! M. Daniel Roukema President
