THE RESULTS ARE IN! After a very fun, exciting, and rewarding Spring CAP held during the April Break, the points have been tallied and we are proud to announce that almost everyone who participated received either a bronze, silver, or gold medal for their efforts! #BravoZulu ALL! In fact, we had such an overwhelming amount of participation, we had to create a new award called the 1000 Points Club! Yes that is right, about 30 of our #OntarioCadets participated in as many ...CAP activities as they could and broke the 1000 point ceiling! As promised, all our Gold recipients (including our 1000 Point Club members) will be meeting with the RCSU Central Command Team LCol Barry Leonard and CWO Gilles Godbout throughout this week. Congratulations to all our CAP participants! Job well done!

#TributeTuesday: To our cadets who are aging out this year. We know this is not the way you anticipated your final year in the Cadet Program to end. We know a lot of you were looking forward to an in-person send-off from your corps and squadrons, and perhaps one final summer at a Cadet Training Centre. We want you to that know we are proud of you and recognize all your hard work and dedication throughout your cadet career, and especially over this unusual training year. ...We hope you've received opportunities and that your success has been recognized. We hope you've made amazing memories and forged lifelong friendships. We hope you've had a plethora of wonderful experiences you couldn't get anywhere else. We want to celebrate you! Send us a few pictures and a short paragraph about your time in cadets and where you're headed next year and get featured every Tuesday! Send them to [email protected] or message us here on Facebook!

The #CadetProgram welcomes all youth that’s true today and everyday. Homophobia, transphobia and biphobia have no place here. This #IDAHOTB, we want to reaffirm that all of our #OntarioCadets are entitled to an environment of mutual respect, dignity and inclusion where they have the opportunity to contribute and thrive through their authentic selves both in-person and online.

Hey Ontario cadets; are you interested in telling the stories of cadets and cadet activities in your community in 2021? Do you like to research, write and capture imagery (photos/video) to share the fun, benefits and challenges of the program with other cadets, families and friends, and Canadians across the region and beyond? Here's your opportunity: Central Region (CR) is offering two virtual serials of the Cadet Correspondent Workshop (CCW), which will be conducted as short... modules over five weekends. Look for more information here -- in the coming days -- on how to register in Fortress through your corps or squadron staff. Serial 1: Jan 23, 30; Feb 6, 13 and 20 Serial 2: March/April -- specific dates TBC * French-speaking cadets in CR can also attend the workshop (in French) virtually with our colleagues in Eastern Region (Quebec).

Save the dates: 15-19 March 2021 Flexibility is key given the current COVID-19 environment, which will determine the extent of the CAP in March, but we are planning for a variety of fun, challenging activities in locations across the region (ON).

Another great local story on the ongoing activities of our units across the region -- this time focused on 329 Canadian Forces Health Services Training Centre RCACC in Tottenham, ON. This story features a recent unit event, held virtually via Zoom, where several VIPs, including RCSU-Central's CO and regional CWO, dropped in to observe remembrance and award a CD medal for 12 years of service, along with several leadership team coins to deserving indivduals. We may all be facing COVID-19 related challenges, but the #CadetProgam continues -- virtually and with some in-person activities where circumstances permit. #CadetsIntheNews

#CadetsInTheNews: As 37 Orville Hand Squadron in Bradford, ON continues to train virtually, like many other cadet corps and squadrons across Central Region, their Squadron Sponsoring Committee plans ahead for when they can safely return to in-person training. A huge thank-you to the Bradford Legion, Sherwin Williams and Bradford Home Hardware for donating the elbow grease, supplies and equipment that helped turn a trailer into a home for our cadets! A home where we can continue to develop our youth into the future leaders of tomorrow. Read the full story here: https://www.bradfordtoday.ca//trailer-will-be-new-hq-for-l

While we always appreciate the occasional story being picked up nationally -- whether internally (e.g. TVOkids story on formation social media platforms last week) or via external media (e.g. Toronto Star in October and TVOkids highlighting one of our sea cadets on live television for Remembrance Day) -- it's the more routine stories published by local media, such as this one in the November edition of Georgian Life Media Inc., that are the backbone of our regional public aff...airs efforts. Using pre-Covid-19 imagery from a previous year, "Georgian Life" highlighted Collingwood Army Cadets -- also outlining the basics of the #CadetProgram and how to join the local unit. #CadetsIntheNews A big thank-you to local media across the region (Ontario) for covering the community-based activities of our cadet corps and squadrons, while helping us spread the word on one of Canada's best youth development programs.

#BravoZulu to 2912 Sudbury Irish Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps for winning the Army Cadet League of Canada (Ontario)’s Clarry Award for the second year in a row! The Colonel Clarry award is given out each year to a large army cadet corps, with 50 cadets or more, that scores the highest on the Strathcona efficiency assessment. Sudbury's Army Cadets have successfully taken on the task of delivering both a virtual and safe in-person training program to their cadets since the beginning of this training year. They continue to keep the motivation and esprit the corps high in their corps by ensuring that their cadets are participating in fun and engaging activities.

On Remembrance Day (11 Nov), TVOkids did a feature on the Cadet Program -- highlighting Leading Cadet Saphira Bickle with Bancroft Sea Cadets, RCSCC Viking, which is part of SEOA in Central Region. Saphira's passion for the Cadet Program was very obvious as she explained how her involvement helps her -- and her fellow cadets -- develop citizenship and leadership skills in their local communities. The cadet story begins at about 5:25 -- with Saphira on screen until about 9:10. It is followed by interviews with cadets, from a 2019 episode, for more than two minutes. #CadetsIntheNews #SeaCadets

"I am incredibly proud of the small, yet meaningful gestures and actions cadets and JCRs take to show their respect for veterans and their sacrifices. You are clearly demonstrating that the next generation of canadian leaders will not forget those who gave their lives to defend the values that define canada." Commodore Kurtz, Commander CJCR

MWO Esteves of RCACC 2379 Royal Hamilton Light Infantry tells her story, very confidently and smoothly, about how the Cadet Program took her from being a shy and introverted 12-13 year-old -- allowing her to "flourish" -- while helping her build confidence and social and leadership skills. Now ageing out of the program, she plans on using what she learned over the past six years in her life going forward. #CadetsIntheNews *Includes pre-COVID-19 imagery.
