Ookami Karatedo Club 18.11.2020

The Last Leaf - it may not be the prettiest or have been the first to bloom, but it survived a long season and outlasted all of the others. As Sensei always says, The real winners are the ones standing at the end. Failure is guaranteed for those who quit just as much as success is guaranteed for those who never stop reaching for their goal.

Ookami Karateka, On behalf of the Ookami Karatedo Club Executive committee, we would like to say thank you to all of our students, supporters and community partners that have waited so patiently to resume classes. As you know, back in March, the Covid pandemic had forced us to stop classes as we all did our part to contain this virus. During this time, we took to building a library of basic instruction and documenting some of our Kata, Kumite and essential drills and made th...em available to our students through the Ookami on-line Dojo. We will continue to build this resource for all Ookami students as we move forward. Now that September is here and the new back to school season is upon us, we had hoped to resume classes at Wilfrid Jury, East Carling and Sir Arthur Currie, however the TVDSB is not in a position to offer the facilities to us until January of 2021. Yes, this is disappointing news, but we certainly understand the decision. Now for some good news, the Ookami club has decided to search for a new facility from which we will begin classes again and hope to have details available for where and when coming up very soon. Do not worry, there will be Ookami Karatedo classes beginning soon. You may have noticed some posts showing outdoor classes for our advanced students. The Ookami Black Belts, our senior ranks and aspiring young leaders have continued their studies in order to help run our program once we are back to full operation in the very near future. There is so much to learn and so much that we have developed over the past several months, we are very eager to share with all of our students! Stay tuned and be patient, we look forward to seeing everyone in the Dojo very soon. Sensei Jeff Kilbourn Founder and Chief Instructor Ookami Karatedo Club

Here are the recipes from Saturday Night's Party - Enjoy! MAGIC PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES 1 Cup Peanut Butter (Crunchy or Smooth whatever you like) ... Cup White Sugar 1 Egg Ya, thats it Mix together, put on a non-stick baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. SENSEIs FAVORITE POTATOE PANCAKES White potatoes approx. 2 medium sized ones per person 2-3 Eggs depends on how many pancakes you make Flour i-dunno? About 2 or 3 tablespoons (this is the glue) 2 cloves of Garlic (crushed or finely chopped) 1 teaspoon of Salt, pinch of pepper & a bit of Parsley for colour Grate the potatoes and soak them in a bowl with cold water for at least 15 minutes drain them well and re-soak about 2 or three times to get rid of the starch. Once the potatoes are rinsed, put them in a colander or strainer and let them drain completely you can help them by pushing on them. Get them as dry as possible. Mix the potatoes, egg and seasoning in a bowl and slowly sprinkle in the flour. They will eventually get to a sticky point and then you are ready to fry. On medium heat, melt some butter and drop a 1/2 cup +/- and push out to a pancake shape approximately 4 to 6 inches across. Fry until golden brown and turn over to do the other side. Keep warm in the oven until all are done. Enjoy with sour cream, although some people like them with apple sauce.

Ookami Karatedo Club 03.09.2019

Team Ookami, I wanted to provide an update to all the students, parents, and supporters of the Ookami Karatedo Club, so you know what is going on behind the scenes as we work through the Covid-19 situation. First off, I want to let everyone know that a very dedicated team of Ookami Black Belts and other executive members of our club have been working extremely hard to continue to provide support and learning opportunities for you. This encompasses an incredible instructional... video program that will provide an archive of technical knowledge that will be invaluable as you continue your Martial Arts journey. We have also enhanced your availability to historical and entertainment-based material through a growing collection of tournament video, interviews and updated technical notes. Countless hours have gone into this project and we continue to expand this library specifically for you, our Ookami students. Secondly, I have been in contact with the school board and I am happy to announce that we have secured our locations and dates for the resumption of classes in the fall. Although we do not have complete certainty of what will happen in the near future, I can assure you that we will be completely ready to go as soon as we get the permission to continue. When we do resume classes they will be structured in a way that will provide the best learning experience while maintaining new class protocols that we have developed to assure our students, their families and our instructors, the safest instructional environment possible. Things will be different, but we are working to ensure things will also be better. On a personal note I want to reassure everyone that despite our distance and the radical changes in life as we know it, the Ookami group continues to move forward, help one another and be a stable and consistent part of your life. We will continue to provide instructional content, make you laugh with some entertaining videos, and simply be there to support you as you have come to expect in the past. Stay safe, and Stay tuned Sensei Jeff Kilbourn Founder & Chief Instructor Ookami Karatedo Club
