With some of the restrictions being lifted and modified, we have put some expected rules in place for attending the funeral home. The rule is still a maximum of 10, however if all of the rules are followed and guidelines met we are able to expand those numbers to 30% capacity of our facilities. (you will be made aware in advance of your timing). WEARING A MASK DURING YOUR TIME IN OUR BUILDING IS MANDATORY. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A MASK OF YOUR OWN, ONE WILL BE PROVIDED TO YOU AS YOU ENTER OUR BUILDING. (please note our supply is limited) PLEASE SANITIZE YOUR HANDS UPON ENTRANCE TO OUR BUILDING. PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF YOUR PHYSICAL DISTANCE FOR OTHER VISITORS. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU REMAIN 2 METRES FROM OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT FROM YOUR OWN HOUSEHOLD. Below is the most current directive from our regulatory body; the Bereavement Authority of Ontario regarding funerals, funeral gatherings and graveside services. Please note the rule of 10 has not changed, however if we meet all of the conditions we can have 30% capacity in the chapel and up to 50 people in the cemetery. June 13, 2020 Effective immediately Subject to certain conditions, the COVID-19 maximum attendance restriction allows for 30 per cent capacity for indoor funerals and visitations, and 50 attendees for outdoor funeral services. This Revised Registrars Directive provides key details to this mornings directive. INDOOR FUNERALS & VISITATIONS The persons conducting the funeral must ensure that the number of persons occupying any room in the building or structure while attending the gathering does not exceed 30 per cent of the capacity of the particular room. All persons attending the gathering must remain at least two metres apart from each other and from persons conducting the funeral unless they are members of the same household. The persons conducting the funeral must ensure that it is conducted in compliance with the advice, recommendations and instructions of public health officials, including any advice, recommendations or instructions on physical distancing, cleaning or disinfecting. The persons conducting the funeral must ensure that any washrooms that have been made available to persons attending the gathering are cleaned and disinfected as frequently as is necessary to maintain a sanitary environment. OUTDOOR FUNERALS & VISITATIONS The persons conducting the funeral must ensure that no more than 50 people are in attendance. All persons attending the gathering must remain at least two metres apart from each other and from persons conducting the funeral unless they are members of the same household. The persons conducting the funeral must ensure that it is conducted in compliance with the advice, recommendations and instructions of public health officials, including any advice, recommendations or instructions on physical distancing, cleaning or disinfecting. Below is the the most current directive regarding funerals and funeral gatherings. The expectation of a group of 10 has not changed. Funerals can happen, they just have a different appearance in the current climate. There has been some confusion, concern and criticism regarding these numbers both by the public and professionals.
