We have just returned from our annual moose hunting trip which was successful again this year, filling our cow tag. Kudos to Open Bay Lodge for once again deli...vering an exceptional experience. We first stayed at Open Bay 3 years ago when another local resort left us stranded without accommodations. While we had booked months in advance and provided a deposit, the resort didn’t have cabins for us. I’ll be courteous and exclude the resort’s name. We travel 1600km for this hunt each way. Open Bay Lodge came to our rescue and maybe it was a blessing in disguise. At that time Open Bay was owned and operated by Sherrill and Mike who were perfect hosts taking care of every need we had. This year was our third visit to Open Bay Lodge and I can highly recommend this resort for your fishing, hunting or simply breaking away from the city for some R&R. The ownership of Open Bay was recently taken on by Mike’s brother Kevin, his wife Jen and their three boys. We enjoyed meeting Kevin, Jen and the boys and we could always count on a chat and check in to to see if we needed anything. Here are a few pictures from our stay at Open Bay this year. There is a picture taken of a bull moose that was about 1000 yards away and I had to zoom way in so its a bit fuzzy. We saw the bull on our way to a daily stand but unfortunately did not have a bull tag. One of the biggest bulls we have seen in the area. To all our dear friends of Open Bay, 18 years has come and gone. It's time to pull up anchor and set sail! What a journey it has been. Mike and I are so grateful, thankful and blessed to have been a part of your time at Open Bay. We will miss you all more than you know! The future is never guaranteed, but, we will be back on occasion to actually go fishing because we can, haha! Until we meet again friends, stay healthy and go fishing more:) Kevin and Jen are now residing at... the lodge, give them a call and say hi. They look forward to meeting you this summer.
