Repost @40yearsofzen --- According to the National Science Foundation, the average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those, 80% are negative and 95% are repetitive thoughts. If we repeat those negative thoughts, we think negative thoughts exceedingly more than we think positive thoughts.... There is now a term for this - ANTs, or Automatic Negative Thoughts. All negative thoughts are not bad. Being alert can help you survive but most negative thoughts are useless. They only create imaginary drama in your mind. What can we do about this? We can consciously counter every negative thought with a positive thought. As you can imagine, doing this up to 50 or 60,000 times per day would be exhausting! You can also use neurofeedback to help retrain your brain to create new neuropathways. . . #waterlooontario #uptownwaterloo #waterloolife #kitchenerwaterloocambridge #kitchenerwaterloo

Repost @rickhansonphd --- It's kind of remarkable to appreciate that your brain makes up only 2-3% percent of your body weight, but uses up 20-25% percent of the metabolic supplies in your blood. Since it's working 24/7 on your behalf, it's using up a lot of those supplies and needs to be replenished. If you take care of your brain, it will take care of you. Mental hygiene is just as important as washing your hands. Still true to September as it was back in March when the pandemic started. Repost @doc_amen
