Volkswagen unveiled its new performance masterpiece - the 2022 VW Golf R! Yes, it`s still available as a manual transmission and yes, it has much more power than before. The same harmonious recipe of a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with All-Wheel Drive sits beneath the posh exterior design of the car. However, now this road rocket now packs 315 horsepower (27 more than last year) and 310 lb-ft of torque (30 more than last year). The 4-Motion All-Wheel Drive system now ...has torque vectoring so power is sent not only front and back but left and right for maximum performance. With all this power and performance in mind, fuel efficiency was certainly not forgotten about. Thanks to a fully-electronic coolant regulator unit, an engine thermal management system with a short warm-up phase, and peak torque being available at only 2100 RPM, all this combined results in reduced fuel consumption compared to the previous generation. Inside the cockpit everything is focused on a more digital experience with updated digital screens, touch-activated controls and haptic feedback. A specific "R" button unlocks it's full potential with direct access to a racing profiles to be used responsibly. North American arrival is expected in the second half of 2021.
