"In late March, roughly 100 workers at an Amazon warehouse in New York walked off the job demanding the facility be closed for cleaning after a co-worker tested positive for COVID-19, and they be given paid time off. Amazon fired the worker who organized the strike, saying he repeatedly violated the company’s social distancing guidelines." https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=4482348525140384&id=205116939530252

"Day 73 Landback Update So the last few days have seen 2 of our people arrested at their home. As the number of arrests increase so does our resolve. More warrants for people from Six Nations and we continue to stand our ground. They keep pushing. We keep being peaceful. Still asserting our sovereignty and our right to these lands. The developer says that they will be here to hook up water and sewer to this development regardless of community consultation not being followe...d. The OPP are going to assist in this process. There has been no time given. But we are expecting this any day now. I think our community has been clear in our stance on further development. The OPP pressure is once again starting to mount. Threats of arrest for a list of people from Six Nations. When will the government step in and say that they have not lived up to their obligations under their own laws. Our people have said NO! This land has been before the court for 25 years. With no end in site. You can not develop land that you don’t own. No consultation = No construction. Please continue to contribute to the 1492 Landback Lane GoFundMe and the direct etransfer to the camp is [email protected] we are going to need all the help we can get. Thank you to all that continue to support us. #landback #1492landbacklane" See more

Orange Shirt Day is a day to honour and remember Survivors of the Residential School System. Its a day to centre and reaffirm Survivors while encouraging settlers to be proactive in learning about the violent policies of assimilation and cultural genocide created and perpetrated by colonial institutions including all levels of the Canadian government. The orange shirt references the shirt that was given to Phyllis (Jack) Webstad by her grandmother for her first day at St Joseph Mission Residential School in BC. At the school Phyllis had all of her clothes taken away including her orange shirt. She was only 6 years old. The date for Orange Shirt Day was chosen as a commemoration of the time of year when many kids were taken from their families and sent away to Residential Schools. Reminder that today is our final session! This session has been moved to Zoom due to rising COVID numbers. We've lifted the cap on registrants and have set up a better, clearer audio set up for streaming through Zoom. There will be closed captioning and active listening available for the session. We ask that attendees please keep their mic muted during the mindfulness exercises until we reach time for questions and feedback at the end. You will require a passcode to enter the... zoom room and so pre-registration will be required for this online session. Active listeners will be available via private breakout rooms, you may private message the host to request to speak to an active listener at any point during the workshop. We apologize for the late notice of the switch and appreciate your understanding as we navigate what is still a very tricky public health situation. The workshop will follow the same time and schedule and we encourage folks to join from their backyards or other outdoor spaces if possible! Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns https://www.facebook.com/events/318359462848347 See more
