Many of you will have seen and heard CBC's recent detailed and uncomfortable coverage of the racism, sexism, and misogyny taking place in OPSEU. It’s absolutely outrageous! Unions are not exempt from treating members with dignity and respect. OPSEU must be held accountable. Please read this straightforward call on OPSEU to do right by Annette Bouzi. Sign this petition and share it widely to all who advocate for social justice.
The story continues. Systemic racism is unacceptable. Change is needed. Thank you to our Local 415 President Annette Bouzi for your courage in bringing this story into the light.
Many of you have already heard the story. Many of you know the transition to president of the Local was not supported or made smooth by the outgoing leadership. Here is an in-depth interview of Annette Bouzi by CBC reporter Julie Ireton of the ongoing challenges and struggles she has faced based in anti-Black racism, sexism, and harassment.
Take time today to remember. Remember those workers who have died or been injured on the job. Today is the National Day of Mourning. You can still register for the virtual ceremony today at 12:30.
