With the announcement that Hamilton is going into Lockdown, we wanted to let everyone know that the Optometrists (& Opticals) have been deemed Essential We will be OPEN but with strict regulations.... When you arrive for your appointment you can come to the second door or text us at 289-769-0256 (this number cannot receive incoming calls) to let us know you are here. Please come into the office alone wearing a mask (1 adult allowed to accompany for children, interpreter, and physical disabilities). Please note: there are no medical exceptions and masks are required to be worn properly the entire duration of your visit. Stay Safe!

A Few Friendly Reminders: A mask is MANDATORY to wear properly in the office at all times. There are absolutely no exceptions. If you cannot wear a mask for any reason we cannot see you at this time. If you cannot wear a mask, we will be happy to put you on our list and call you when we do not need to wear masks.... Please come into the office alone. (Very few exceptions). The struggle is real

NEW OFFICE GUIDELINES: If you are 10 minutes late, unfortunately we will have to reschedule your appointment. We cannot guarantee an appointment within 4-6 weeks. If you DO NOT SHOW UP up to an appointment, there will be a 2-3 month waiting period for a new appointment.... It is MANDATORY to wear a mask in the office at all times. There are NO exceptions. The mask will have to cover your nose and mouth the whole time. You will have to bring a mask with you. We will do a non contact temperature check. If you have a cough we cannot book you an appointment. (Even if it is due to COPD, smoking, etc.) We cannot take any chances for your safety and others safety. Conjunctivitis (Pink eye) is a less common symptom of Covid-19. Two weeks prior to your appointment, if your eyes have had any discharge or redness, we cannot see you. You have to come into the office alone. If someone comes with you they will have to wait outside or in your vehicle. (Very few exceptions allowed) Please avoid bringing larges bags, coats, drinks and food If you develop a cough, fever or feel unwell within 2 weeks prior to your exam please cancel your appointment.

If you do not want to look the same day or you already have a valid prescription then you will have to call to make an appointment for another day. Day of appointment: It is MANDATORY you bring a mask and it is worn in the office at all times. Please come in alone (Very few exceptions allowed)... Please leave all extra unnecessary items in your vehicle or at home. (Including large bags, food, coats and drinks) When arriving you can text us at 289-769-0256 to let us know you have arrived. We will text you when you are ready to come into the office. You can also come in the first door, sanitize your hands (sanitizer is on the ledge to the left), knock on the second door (which is locked) and someone will let you know if you are ok to come in or if you could kindly wait outside or in your vehicle.. Once you are allowed in the store, we will do a non-contact temperature check and then proceed with your exam. At the appointment you may be asked to have dilating drops in your eyes. This helps the doctor see the back of your eye for health. (included in the exam fee). The drops can make your vision blurry and your eyes light sensitive for 3-4 hours. The second option is having the Optomap imaging done. This takes an image of up to 80% of the back of your eyes. The fee is $39. New guidelines made MANDATORY by the College of Optometrists: All appointments must be made by phone or email. Patients are not allowed in the office unless they have a scheduled appointment. A risk assessment will be made before picking an appointment date... Some appointments may have to be done by phone or video call. If you are 10 mins late for your appointment we will unfortunately have to reschedule your appointment. There is a very high demand for appointments, we will not be able to reschedule you within 4-6 weeks. Due to the high demand and urgency for eye appointments if you do not show up to an appointment there will be a 2(+) month wait to be rescheduled. All information has to be gathered when booking the appointment to avoid contact. Doctors have to wear a face mask, face shield or goggles and gloves. They have to wash their hands and put on a new pair of gloves with every patient. After every patient leaves the doctors exam room, they will clean ALL of the surfaces before they can see a new patient. Doctors assistants have to wear a face mask and face shield or goggles. Constantly washing and/or sanitizing their hands. For certain procedures they will wear gloves. The pre-testing equipment will be thoroughly cleaned after each use. The desk will be equipped with a sneeze guard. Patients must wear a face mask at all times in the office Due to the high demand and the new guidelines we must follow, when making an appointment please leave only one message and your name will be put on the list to call. Please be patient as this list is very long and we are trying to book everyone safely, correctly, and fairly.

UPDATE: The office will be closed until Monday March 30th. Then we will reassess again. Friday March 27th patients will be called tomorrow. We have made the decision to keep the office closed for a little bit longer. As of right now we are hoping to be back Friday March 27th. We will reassess again next week and update everyone. Winter is coming! Here are some ways to protect your eyes during the winter months. - UV Protection. UV rays can seriously damage your eyes. Even on cloudy days the ultraviolet rays can bounce off of snow and ice. A quality pair of 100% UV protection Sunglasses can help reduce the risk of cataracts, macular degeneration and snow blindness. Putting a good quality cosmetic for the eyes under your eyes also help protect from UV damage. (Make sure not to get any in your eyes)... - Keep your eyes moist. Being outdoors with the cold, dry and harsh winds can cause dry and irritated eyes. You can also experience this indoors when warming up next to a heat source like a fire, space heaters or air vents in your car. Talk to your optometrist about artificial tears or other treatment options to help with dry eyes. - Wearing goggles that are sturdy, impact-resistant and have built-in UV protection while enjoying winter spots is very important.
